I see many Indian immigrants become CEOs/made it to Partner compared with immigrants from other coutnries (higher percentage that made it)

I know it is hard to generalize but there must be something different no?

Did you observe something if you worked with them before?

My hypothesis:

1. Language / English native speakers (and tighter relations with UK/US, meaning that many come to complete their education in the US/UK)

2. High level of training / good universities (usually focused on quantitative / engineering) in India

3. Sheer quantity of Indians (>1bn)

Top rated Case & PEI coach/Multiple real offers/McKinsey EM in New York /12 years recruiting experience

Nothing special. It is just a numbers game and the fact that Indians speak English fluently. India has 1.4 Bn people, only the top of the top make it to the best firms in the US so by default you are going to get some star candidates. Luckily nationality plays no (or very limited) role in career success in the US.

You will find much better answers to this question via a simple Google search than getting some random thoughts from coaches. I cant post links here but read the BBC, CNBC articles on this subject.

Isn't there another country with more people and not as many CEOs? - how do you solve that without other reasons being factors?

I worked/studied with many Indians and here’s what comes to mind (please note that this is very generalized and only based on my personal experience and may vary substantially from someone else’s):

  • There’s a gigantic talent pool to begin with
  • A lot of Indians have international experience and are multicultural, which is always an advantage
  • Great culture that is a perfect balance of respect, humbleness, and hard work
  • Never came across Indians who weren’t friendly or social (combined with previous bullet point, that’s a killer combo)

I don’t want to speculate about the school system but would be interesting to know how that ranks vs. the rest of the world.
