After having been invited to take Solve, I came across Francesco's guide when looking for ways to prepare for the digital assessment within my limited time budget (never trust anyone saying you can't prepare for things ;)).
I found all of the information super helpful for the following 3 reasons:
1) I used Francesco's scenario hacks and additional resources (Excel spreadsheet) to really focus on the two key scenarios (these were also exactly the ones I had when taking the test about an hour ago) and prepare my strategies and note-taking structures. More specifically, I carefully went through all of the guide's information for both scenarios and summarised everything in a one-pager scenario "cookbook" that I placed in front of me before taking the assessment. It did not only massively calm my nerves, but I also knew exactly what to do for the first scenario. The automated excel was also a game changer in quickly collecting and prioritising the relevant information, which is probably one of the biggest challenges otherwise. I would recommend using a separate laptop for the spreadsheet to avoid wasting time and process score points switching screens.
2) Although probably not needed in the recent versions of the assessment, it's really good to know that the guide also includes scenario hacks for the other less likely scenarios. This way, I was able to prioritise the first two scenarios in my preparation, knowing that if needed, I could always pull out the most important information needed in case I would face any of the other.
3) The guide offers additional useful information on how to generally improve on the tested skills that could also be useful for other future digital assessment tests (that are likely if you are not only applying to McKinsey ;)).
Thank you very much Francesco!
