If someone is put on the waitlist (one of the MBB firms) for the full time role and the interviewer said they will get back within three weeks (and that this person is a great fit), what is the likelihood this person will get the offer?

Dear candidate, if it is the recruiting firm then the chances are maybe ten percent, if it is a random recruiter, depending on what they mean they could be lower. However you can also look at it like this: great success, you are on the list, you can maybe do a lot to actually be recruited, secondly you know you can be successful and there is interest be suse they gave you this opportunity. So ideally prep and check us there sth you can do to get in. Best regards, Pope

Hello,

It's going to depend on the total number of candidates they are interviewing and waitlisting and the reason for them waitlisting you, so unfortunately there's no way to know for sure. That being said, I don't think it's super common for MBB to waitlist people in this way, so I'd expect there to be some chance of getting an offer. Best of luck!

Hi there,

To be honest, the odds are quite low.

My view for all recruiting is to hope for the best and plan for the worst.

The only thing you can do, the most productive thing you can do, is forget about it and act as if you did not get the offer. Network with other firms and apply to tons of other roles. Please don't wait 3+ weeks just for a “maybe”.

Fingers crossed for you!

The truth is, it’s quite rare that you are extended an offer if you are on a waiting list. It could happen but I would not count on that.

I would recommend to assume it’s a no and plan accordingly for the other firms. Then if it becomes a yes, it’s all benefit on top.

Good luck!

Francesco

Hi there,

Hard to give an actual percentage probability because it depends where you are on the waitlist and how many other people are there.

Overall, I'd say you have a good chance of being given an offer since many of those who were also given offers could decide to go for a different firm.

Best,
Cristian
