I accepted my offer from MBB and sent it back to them 2 weeks ago. They said they would follow up with me. However, I have not received any further info from them. I emailed HR but no answer since last week. My questions

1)How long for them to send the documents?

2)are they not sending it because my starting date would still be far away from now?

Hi there,

You're saying they sent an offer and you signed it? If so, you're done! There's nothing more needed until you start.

If you're still waiting on the formal document, I'd wait another week before following up. If your start date is far away there's nothing to worry about - HR in most offices is swamped right now.

It can take some time to send the documents to sign. Just ask HR what to expect from a timeline perspective. Either way you have an offer so don't worry!

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on (accepting) the offer!

This is indeed an interesting question which is probably relevant for quite a lot of users, so I am happy to provide my perspective on it:

  • Generally speaking, signing written documents may sometimes take a couple of weeks for (consulting) companies as it will mostly be a more senior person to sign them.
  • Still, you will be sent the contract as soon as both parties have signed irrespectible of your starting date.
  • In case you want to be sure (and it seems like you are a bit nervous about whether they will sign the contract or not) and also have the contract in digital form, I would advise you to send the signed digital contract to the recruiter.
  • Given that you have been waiting for two weeks, I would advise you to wait another week before very politely calling the recruiter to ask about the status. When worst comes to worst, the postal service took a couple of days on your end, the consulting company took a couple of days to sign and again the postal service took a couple of days on their end. You just do not t want to come off “pushy” before you even start working at your future employer.

In case you want a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming career entry, please feel free to contact me directly.

I hope this helps,

Hagen

I agree with the other coaches. MBBs are true to their word on these issues, and usually HR is on top of things for new hires.

So if the start date is far away, don't stress about it. You should only reach out at this point if the start date is coming soon.

If you have signed the offer letter then that's it - relax a bit. Congratulations!

Maybe there are process delays from MBB's side. You can check-in with HR to ask them:

  • If they need anything else from your side;
  • What are the next steps
  • What are the expected timelines

If you've sent the signed offer letter, there's not much else to do until it's closer to the start date. You'll get an email about background check at some point soon, but other things like signing bonus, onboarding, IT support etc. will likely be closer to the start date. If your start date is soon (next month), you should definitely follow up again in a week or so. Maybe contact your point of contact recruiter and cc the HR/recruiting team at the local office you'll be joining directly. You should have their email from the offer letter and other previous communications. Otherwise, just wait and take the time to relax - MBB (and all the consulting firms, really) are very on top of things.

How long did you accept it after receiving the contract and how long your start date is?

Check with HR or Recruiter.

We (people on PrepLounge) would know the least about it.
