Does a background check at BCG verify a candidates grades (gpa)?
Übersicht der Antworten
Most likely not. I would say definitely not but of course I can’t have the certainty of what each office chooses to do.
The thing is, nobody cares about grades. At most, they care about your relative position in a cohort. A large consulting firm won’t go around calling universities asking about candidate‘s grades. That doesn’t mean though that you should write anything but the truth.
The real test is the interview and that’s where they tell if you have what it takes. The CV screening is just a high-level indicator of potential.
I actually disagree with Christian here (sorry). Whether or not they will, you should assume that they will. A background check checks that you were where you said you were in the role that you said you were in. This will include company dates + positions and university + degrees. Please put your real GPA on your resume (if at all)!
Hi!
I would say yes. Plus, you often need to provide your transcript to the firm.
Best,
Anto
Not always, depends on the university and office. But there's a good likelyhood they will.
And your interviewers, managers will know your CV.
This sort of thing may haunt you. And once it is known, it hurts you badly. Forever.
Don't do it.
Hey there,
Agree with Ian.
Also whether or not they check does not really matter. Never lie on your resume, especially with grades, as this can only backfire at some point…
In McKinsey, you have to send your degree and transcripts so they would notice anyway regardless of a background check.
Cheers,
Florian
Hello,
It's very unlikely that they will verify your grades, unless there is a specific partnership with your university career service.
Despite this, making false statements regarding your professional background is something very serious and I don't recommend it.

Are you worried?
If you are, and if you have provided incorrect information - then it is fundamentally incorrect.
Always assume that checks can happen. Then put up your feet and relax because you will have nothing to worry in that case.
