Hi!

I have landed an interview at Implement Consulting and have been told that I will be presented with either a market sizing or brain teaser.

The market sizing seems straight forward, but what can I expect in terms of the brain teaser? What does this usually cover?

Examples would be much appreciated!

Thanks!
Emil

Hi Emil,

Congrats on the interview!

Brain teaser could be many things! However, in general they should be more business focused. You might expect a brainstorming question in particular. Some brainteasers are quite tricky through (the black hat white hat or the apples/oranges in a bucket/box)

Hi Emil,

If they are actually real brainteasers (quite uncommon in consulting), you can find some examples from PrepLounge below:

Good luck!

Hi Emil!

That's good to hear.

Basically, brain teasers are types of questions that aim to challenge your logical thinking.

They can come in the form of market sizing exercises (e.g., a classic is: how many golf balls fit in a plane?) or inductive reasoning exercises or even GMAT type questions.

You can find plenty of examples online if you google for them. You can also find some at the following link here on PrepLounge:
https://www.preplounge.com/en/brain-teaser-consulting

The important thing to have in mind is that these brain teasers, just like the market sizing exercises, aren't looking for an exact number. Instead, they are trying to get an understanding of how to think through a problem and how you communicate it to the interviewer (who is basically simulating the conversation you would have with a client).

Happy to also walk you through a few examples and discuss the best methodology of approaching them.

Best,
Cristian
