Hi. I've been struggling to find a case partner to practice with that is either available or reliable through the meeting board. I understand that many people may not want to do a case with someone who hasn't done any , but how can I find people who are. your advice would be very appreciated :)

Hi Wahab,

I agree with Donavan;s advice. Try to build that with 2-3 partners as you don't want to only case with one other person and if you have multiple, in that case you shuffle between them.

If you are brand new, I would also recommend getting a session with a coach to understand where you stand and how to give feedback. That way even as a new case you will be able to add value to your partners

Hi there,

I recommend contacting some people directly and thinking about what it is that you can offer to them so that they are more likely to want to case with you! I'm sure that you can provide a lot of helpful feedback which it's worth sharing!

Then the coaching option is always there if you want more experienced feedback from people who have both interviewed and in many cases been interviewers as well.

Good luck!

Hi Wahab,

Get used to this :) You're going to see this when networking to get interviews, when trying to win work in the future, etc.

You have to be persistent and reactive!

Message more people. Figure out what messages tend to work best. And brush off non-responses.

Happy casing!

Hi Wahab,

I suggest you contact one some candidates on the Candidate Listing directly (via message) or either refer to one of the coaches offering you a structured case interviewing experience with expertise from their former consulting roles.

All the best

Case partners in every case are junior and not able to provide feedback. It is like learning an instrument without asking for professional guidance from a "maestro" with a conservatory diploma.

My strong suggestion is to invest some money in coaching.

Keep trying to set-up meetings. The problem will resolve itself since, once you have a couple of meetings under your belt, you will have more traction with higher quality/more reliable candidates.

Make sure you send a message to the person confirming that the time is the best for them and that they'll be there. Also ask them if they have a specific need.

Making a bit of personal contact makes others more counscious that they're not just “cancelling to the platform” but actually canceling last minute to another person.

It also sends the message that you are serious about this, and also that you will be a valuable partner.
