"Hello! I'm considering reapplying to McKinsey after a two-year break and am currently working in a Tier 2 firm. Since I've successfully completed the digital assessment in my previous application, is it possible to have that score recognized and advance directly to the interview rounds without retaking it? Has anyone experienced something similar?"

yes, if you took the digital test less than a year ago, you can bypass it. Otherwise, you'll have to retake it.

Hi there,

Sounds like you last took the assessment two years ago, is that correct? If so, you will need to re-take it.

Please keep in mind the test has changed, so you will need to prepare again for it!

Correct, need to retake but there are great resources in the meantime that prep you to pass it with guarantee. Warm regards and best of success, Frederic

Hi there!

Usually, test scores are only kept for a year, so my expectation is that you need to re-take the score.

I'd recommend you reach out to the recruiter and ask whether the old score could be retained for you. It wouldn't be impossible for them to say yes.

Best of luck!
Cristian

Hi there,

I am afraid that you'll need to retake the test if you have done over than a year ago. Make sure you discuss with your recruiting contact how the test might have changed in your office since the last time you take it. This is key for your new preparation.

Best,

Alberto

Hi there,

Q: Since I've successfully completed the digital assessment in my previous application, is it possible to have that score recognized and advance directly to the interview rounds without retaking it? Has anyone experienced something similar?

The results of the McKinsey assessment are usually valid for a year. If you completed the assessment more than one year ago, you will most likely need to take the assessment again.

You can find an article below with a few tips on the game:

If you want to prepare further, you can find below a video simulation with:

  • 23 videos showing how to crack the Ecosystem Game in 23 minutes (instead of the recommended 35), resist 25+ turns in the Plant Defense (instead of the minimum target of 15) and prepare for the 4 Phases of the Redrock Study (including tips for the cases part).
  • Automated Excel with Formulas to build a food chain in the Ecosystem game in 13 minutes.
  • PDF guide with all 6 possible games and how to crack each of them.
