Dear all,

I am going to have my first interview with Capgemini over the phone in 2 weeks in Germany. The HR told me that the phone interview was going to take 1 hour and would cover personal questions, one case and professional questions. Can anyone give me some insights about the phone interview with Capgemini?

If anybody happens to apply for Capgemini as well, don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you very much!

Hi,

I had my phone interview with Capgemini Invent in Munich in June 2019. My phone interview was with two managers and involved:

A strong focus on personal questions - Why you want to join Capgemini, leading them through your CV with then focused questions on your studies / particular courses / your thesis.

Professional questions - for me that revolved around data analytics and detailed questions how I would use big data.

Case Study - surprisingly, I didn't get a case study.

Hope that helped. Regards,

Harry

In my case it was a consultant that interviewed me on the phone. She also spent like 15 minutes telling about herself and her projects so I get an idea about the job. So, I think the case took like around 20 minutes. As said, it was really simple, she basically asked me to solve a breakeven point. I also did not have the feeling I had to rush.

In my opinion, the first phone interview is a superficial screening and what is important is to make rapport with the interviewer. Like being nice and be interested on her experiences. Over the phone they assess if you are a nice person and do not assess problem-solving skills in much detail.

Good luck!

I had the first phone interview with Capgemini a year ago in Germany and it was like this:

1) Personal question was tell me about yourself. Don't fall into the trap of telling your whole CV, concentrate on your skills relevant to consulting.

2) Case was to find the breakeven point using very large numbers. The equation was pretty easy but dealing with such large numbers is at first sight confusing.

Hi thanks for your reply. Could you tell me how long the case takes and what are the requirements to let you pass the case on the phone? Must I solve the case in the same professional and fast way like in the on-site interview ?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you, regarding my current status, I had 17 live cases, but not really memorized much frameworks and professional phrases in mind. And due to time conflict with other interviews in other areas, I don't believe I can improve my case solving skills tremendously in two weeks. If I understand you correctly, they don't judge performance on the phone as strictly as on-site, right? If that is the case, that reassures me a lot. Thanks.

One more question, did they ask you any professional questions related or unrelated to the case, like ask you to define or explain particular financial or accounting terms?

Many thanks!

Yes, exactly, they do not judge very strictly on the performance in phone case interviews. However, if you perform too badly you might not pass. But having done 17 cases, I would not worry.

I also did not have any other specific questions about the area or practice.

Ok, that sounds promising! do you have any good tipps how to improve one's skills in a short period and on which criteria I should especially train myself? Like straightforward case framework, fast reaction etc.?

Btw I applied for the area financial services in Capgemini, I am wondering if there are any typical cases for Capgemini in this area?

Sorry for many questions, I really feel a strong like for Capgemini and want to pass my phone interview...Thanks for understanding!
