If an MBB firm sponsors your MBA, are you expected to return to the same office location for your two year lock-in afterwards? Or are you allowed to switch to other office locations?
Curious to hear about all firms, but Bain/BCG in particular.

Dear,
During your tenure in the MBA program, it is indeed possible to request a transfer to a different office. Upon such a request, an internal evaluation will be initiated by both the current and prospective offices to assess the feasibility of the transfer. It's important to note that while a transfer is possible, it is not guaranteed and should be substantiated with sound rationales.
I am acquainted with several colleagues who, while pursuing their MBA, have successfully navigated through this process and secured a transfer to a new office, to be effected upon the conclusion of their MBA program.
Feel free to DM me should you have any further questions or require additional clarification on this matter.
I hope this is helpful.
Best,
Antonio
Hi there!
It depends on the office.
Richer / bigger offices tend to be a lot more generous than smaller offices.
In some countries they will fund your MBA, allow you to use their equipment during the program, even give you a stipend and not have the contractual obligation to come back.
In other geographies, they will only support the costs of the MBA and then expect you to return for two years (or you will have to refund them the cost of the program).
Sometimes it works to switch offices within the same firm even though one office paid for the MBA and the other one is ‘getting the benefit of it’, but they can get a bit annal around processing these changes.
Best,
Cristian

Hi there,
You *should* be able to. This will, however, depend on supply/demand, politics, your reputation, how you navigate it, luck, etc.
Desired to go back to same office but not impossible to switch when right sponsorship behind your request. Warm regards, Frederic
Hi,
Sharing a BCG perspective.
The first thing you need to understand is context on how BCG works and who is sponsoring the MBA. Sponsorship is done by the system (e.g. North America, SEA, Greater China etc). Each system runs on its own P&L.
So based on the above, your home system has very little incentive to agree to letting you transfer to a different system.
It is possible of course, BCG offers a “Park" program - which is the ability to temporarily transfer to a different system after MBA for a short duration, after which a permanent transfer has to be negotiated (but you can imagine how difficult the negotiations will be).
Hi there,
This is definitely possible but might be more difficult in some offices. Also, in general, it is not an standard process and you'll need to work for it (networking, getting strong evaluations, etc.).
Best,
Alberto
