Hi,

I am selected for Mckinsey Forward program whereas I am looking for consultant opportunity at Mckinsey. I have led and surprivsed team back in 2019 & 2020, but now a days I am not supervising any team. What should I do in this situation? What would be the impact on my consulting application :( ! what should I do?

Should I send them an email telling that I am not eligible as I led the team because it may impact on my job application.

Please suggest

Hi there,

What’s the problem in your view? I don’t see any.

Based on your wording, you’re implying that you must currently be leading a team to be eligible to apply for a position in the firm. That is not the case for any role.

Please let me know in case I misunderstood your concern.

Moritz

As per our separate conversation, you’re not considered eligible for the program if you have “directly managed” people in the past, which generally refers to formal line management and people below you in an org chart (not your case). This is different from leading projects or teams for a limited period of time, where the people you lead for the purpose of the project maintain a separate line leader (your case). Bottom line: the devil is in the detail but you should be OK to pursue this opportunity.

Hi!

I doubt that this is really a problem.

It rather sounds like there was a shift in the format and responsibilities of your role. But the program on its own should still be relevant for you.

I would recommened that you go ahead with it and try to make the most out of it.

Good luck!
Cristian

Hi,

It's important to note that a ban from McKinsey doesn't necessarily apply universally across all roles.

So try to re apply, nothing to lose.

Cheers,

Alexandre

Hi there,

Agree with Moritz here. Since it wasn't an official manager/executive role, you *should* be ok here. Still, it's worth just double-checking with them!

Hi there,

I don't see a problem neither. Double check with them just in case to set expectations.

Best,
