I applied for a job on the EY website months ago, on the last week I received an email saying “EY MENA TEAMS Interview - Valuation, Modelling, and Economics. Thank you for your interest to the role. Happy to have an introductory call to discuss this opportunity further.”

and I confirmed a date next week for the meeting two days ago.

Can I send an Email asking if it will be a technical or behavioral meeting?

Hi there,

Q: Can I send an Email asking if it will be a technical or behavioral meeting?

Yes, it is totally fine to ask if they did not provide additional information already.

Good luck!

Hi there,

Excellent news!

So, it sounds like this will be a screening call.

Quite honestly, you should expect both technical and behavioral. You should not expect to have to do a case.

Basically, the recruiter will want to figure out if you have the skillset for the role and if you're a good fit for the firm (they can put you in front of the client and with their team)

Hi there,

Great that you got a reply!

Yes, reach out to them to clarify the content and format of the interviewer.

However, based on how they phrased it, it's almost like a screening call to figure out if the role is relevant for you. So it's not an assessment per se, but more of an eligibility conversation.

Sharing with you a guide on how to conduct such chats:

Best,
Cristian

Hi there,

judging from the language of the note, looks like a screening call. That said, it's perfectly fine to check with HR and clarify what to expect.

Hope this helps.

Regards, Andi

Hi there,

it is absolutely legitimate to inquire about the general interview format (or introductory call). When you are entering an application process, though, I would expect every interaction with HR or other company representatives to be a form of assessment - so take it as seriously as you would a formal interview.

In this particular case, it sounds like there will be a chance for you to also learn more about the role they are seeking to fill and for them to gauge if it makes sense for you to continue with the further recruiting process. They might want to get a feel for your proficiency in the valuation, modeling and economics areas (just a guess though).

Best of luck

It'a a conversation, not a formal interview.

Of course, even not being a formal interview… it is nevertheless a behavioral and motivational interview. But not a technical interview.
