Hi,

I did the Bain Sova Assessment on the 27th of March and have not received any update or intimation from them till now.

It was the associate consultant position here in the Middle East

Have I been rejected because of a low score? Are they just slow to respond? Do they let you know if you failed?

What do you recommend I do?

Hi there,

The honest answer is that, 1 month later it's more unlikely than likely that you have not passed.

That said, they “should” let you know where you pass/fail.

You should feel free to reach out to them to check, but please apply to lots of other firms - this is a numbers game!

Hi there,

1) I did the Bain Sova Assessment on the 27th of March and have not received any update or intimation from them till now. Have I been rejected because of a low score? Are they just slow to respond?

A total of 3+ weeks without replies is quite a bit of time indeed, however until they confirm a rejection there are still chances that they are just slow to provide feedback.

2) Do they let you know if you failed? What do you recommend I do?

They should eventually let you know. Given the amount of time that passed it is fine to follow up with them to ask for feedback.

Best,

Francesco

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you haven't heard back.

While 1 month is a rather long time for them to respond, don't assume it didn't work out. Rather reach out to the recruiter and ask.

In the meantime, I'd recommend you broaden your application focus and try other firms as well. Here's a guide on how to best do that:

Hi there,

First of all, I am sorry to hear about your negative experience with Bain!

I think this is an interesting question that may be relevant for many people. I would be happy to share my thoughts on it:

  • First of all, in general, there is no correlation between the response rate of the recruiting team and the probability for you to move to the next step of the application process.
  • Moreover, given it has been almost a month, I would advise you to reach out to the recruiter directly, at best via telephone, and politely inquire about the status of your application.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hello,

3 weeks is generally quite a bit of time for them to let you know your outcome. I recommend reaching out to HR to politely ask about the status of your application.

They usually let people know if they've been rejected after taking the test. A 3 week delay doesn't look great, but it's strange that they haven't reached out directly. It's worth asking about in any case. You wouldn't have been rejected for a low score alone, however - they evaluate your score comprehensively together with your application and resume.

Hi there,

Did you mean you did SOVA on the 17th of April?

Not sure exactly how long it has been, but usually you will be notified if you have been unsuccessful.

Suggest you wait for a week after taking the assessmenet and then reach out to your recruitment contact to follow up.

Good luck,

Lilit

My Apologies. I meant the 27th of March

In that case you should definitely follow up with your recruitment contact as soon as possible and ask for an update. It's very unusual not to be notified 3-4 weeks after the assessment.
