Interview Predicament

Received an offer from one of my preferred firms and I now feel mentally done with case preparation for interviews.

I have interviews with two different firms this month but I am mostly certain that even if I land offers from either, I will take the offer I already have. I also have a lot of current work commitments that require time and attention.

Worth still pushing ahead to do the interviews? or better to just focus on the next chapter with the offer I am content with.

Hi there!

If you're content with the offer you have, by all means just drop the other interviews.

There's not much that you can gain from them at this point. And if you feel already ‘done’ with case interviews and your energy is low, you're likely to not perform well in the interviews anyway.

Sharing with you the articles to help you hit the ground running in your new role:

Best,
Cristian

Hi there,

Well done landing the offer!

It almost sounds as though you're answering the question yourself, the way it's phrased. Why keep pushing considering the effort and the fact you already got what you wanted?

Here's what you should do (and I'd be happy to hear about your process on this):

  1. Identify the incremental benefit of joining firm B (upcoming interviews) over A (offer in hand). Any idea what that may be? At the very least, you should be able to formulate that.
  2. Consider the effort in relation to the return i.e., the above increment (roughly adjusted for likeliness of success…).

Like I said, it almost sounds like you have an answer already but curious to hear about the outcome.

Best of luck,

Moritz

Hi there,

congrats first of all!

Whether you continue, is obviously totally subject to what matters most to you..

  • Go ahead,  if you value the experience of going through the process to get additional insights and maybe bargaining power. There's no harm in trying then
  • Stop right here, if you have more valuable things to do with your time and don't really care about bargaining power & what other firms have to offer. Would not waste my own and anyone elses time, if there is nothing valuable to it.

Hope this helps. Wish you all the best.

Regards, Andi

Hi there,

Congratulations on the offer! In terms of your question:

Q: Worth still pushing ahead to do the interviews? or better to just focus on the next chapter with the offer I am content with.

If you are sure you will accept the current offer there is no need to interview with the others. If you think you might switch to one of the other firms in case of an offer, then I would continue.

I agree with Ian that it makes sense to withdraw once you have a signed contract and not just a verbal offer.

Best,

Francesco

Hi there,

Congrats on the offer - fantastic news!

Well, you have your decision here in front of you :)

In fact, it's actually respectful to the other firms to pull out. One might say it's worth it continuing with the others just in case something happens. Recognize this is a possibility (offer rescinded, delayed, etc.), but not likely…your call here.

Just make sure you have a fully signed offer letter/document with the current firm before you do anything.

Again, congratulations!

Hi,

congratulations on the offer! If you are certain this is your preferred firm, then go for it and cancel the other interviews. Saves you and the other companies a lot of time and you can fully focus on your start at the preferred firm.

Best of luck!

Marvin

Hello,

Congratulations on getting an offer from one of your preferred firms, that's great news!

If you're certain that you would take the offer you currently have over any other offer that might land your way in the future, it is absolutely ok to reach out to cancel the other interviews. You won't be wasting your or their time that way. I would recommend doing this after you sign your offer contract, however!

If you think there's a chance you might actually prefer to ultimately go with a different firm (e.g., if they offer higher compensation), then it might be worth sticking it out. But it sounds to me like you're fairly clear on what you want.
