What is the process of  background check in MBB, do one has to provide his/ her past employees names with contacts & email. Do they call employers or send them mail.

Also for education does one has to give  contact of registrar or admin like case of employers for verification of documents.

Any views on it ?

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on the (presumed) offer!

This is indeed an interesting question which is probably relevant for quite a lot of users, so I am happy to provide my perspective on it:

  • First of all, you do not need to provide any additional information.
  • The service provider performing the background check (this will not be your future employer itself) will use the application files your provided and check their validity.
  • Contradictory to what other coaches said, in most countries, personal rights do not allow past employers or universities to disclose much information about you besides the fact that you have worked/ studied there. As such, the background check is rather superficial and should mainly detect blatant lies.

In case you want a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare your upcoming career entry, please feel free to contact me directly.

I hope this helps,

Hagen

Hi there,

The process is done by external companies. Normally you won’t have to provide any additional details.

These companies will usually contact by email a representative of your former employer and ask for:

  • Confirmation of employment period
  • Confirmation of job title
  • Reason for leaving

The exact information asked may also depend on the regulation in a particular country.

Best,

Francesco

Hello!

In MBB is very standard, and you have absolutely nothing to fear as long as you haven´t lied in relevant stuff (e.g., graduating form Uni X when you actually didn´t, lying about interning somewhere, etc.)

In most cases, they won´t even contact, just ask for some supporting evidence (e.g., official title, letter form the previous company confirming, a salary slip, etc.)

It´s not even done by MBB, but by companies that they hire for this. If there are any discrepancies, theyll contact you first, so don´t worry too much.

Hope it helps!

Cheers,

Clara

They will ask that information (usually name of the company, time you were there and HR contact if possible). Not to ask for references or check your performance, but only to confirm that you actually worked there.

Hi there,

Generally you don't have to do anything and they work fully behind the scenes.

They essentially check your records to make sure you were at the places you said you were at, in the role that you said you were in, during the dates that you said you were there.
