Had Bain 2nd Round Interview A Week Ago, Haven't Heard Back

Hi!

I had my second round interview with Bain's Boston office a week ago for the associate consultant position and still haven't heard back.

I know of people who have received both rejection and offer calls, but I just haven't heard anything.

Is it worth holding out hope for an offer?

Additionally, I have my interviewer's email address, and was considering reaching out to ask if he had any insight into the timeline, but I wasn't sure if this would be appropriate.

Hi there,

A week is still an okay time limit, especially during the summer when people are on vacation. During this time, things always tend to take a bit longer.

I would wait until next Monday and if you have not heard anything, I would call the recruiter personally.

Fingers crossed for a positive outcome!

Cheers,

Florian

I’m sorry that they’re taking such a long time to get back to you. A lot of people are reporting this at the moment - I suspect that because it’s the summer people are off work and it’s difficult to get the panel together. It doesn’t mean anything except they’re being a bit disorganize. Don’t read into it!

A week is a substantial amount of time, so I’d drop the recruiting office and email just asking if they have an update. At this point I wouldn’t reach out directly to the partner as you want to start off with the official channel. However, if for whatever reason the recruiting team don’t get back to you for a couple of days, then it’d be ok to drop the partner a note.

Good luck!

Hi there,

Sorry for the anxiety you go through now.

The delay is usually given that all people that interviewed you must submit their feedback and this can take long as everyone's agenda is extremely packed. So delay doesn't mean anything bad, it is just an organizational thing. Still, I would strongly recommend reaching out to HR and asking for an update and a new timeline.

Good luck

Lucie

Hi there,

1) Hold out hope, yes

2) Plan for the worst, yes

You may still get an offer and you also may not (this was always the case and still is).

Feel free to reach out to the interviewer given it has been two weeks. But please also apply to and network with other firms! It's important to not put all your eggs in 1 basket (I personally applied to 30 firms)

Hi, I recommend texting/calling HR without worrying about bothering them. They are there to help.
And no, it's not a clear sign of rejection (in this case a quick email would have been sent)

Best,
Antonello

Keep preparing for the next round. No answer means… no decision yet. By the time I write this about 3 weeks have passed - it is a good time to ask them for an update.
