cost of wine bottle to drink = $30

monthly budget for drinking =  $300
consumption/week = 2 bottles

consumption/month = 10 bottles

gift/month  = 2 bottles

cost per month = (10 consumption + 2 gift )  x 30 = 360 → -2 deficit → drink from investment bottles → can't sell 120 in the 5th year

your calculation is wrong because you overlooked the gift part. otherwise its not bad. just a silly mistake but a consultant case should be of a good quality no?

I had a mentor in McKinsey who was saying that perfection is the enemy of done. Same here :)

Great that you spotted the mistakes and hopefully the author will correct it. It's indeed virtually impossible to build perfect cases. Even in the interview you're likely to come across some errors.

Best,
Cristian

i would definitely be against spending a load of money on a consulting firm if they make such silly mistakes and make pretty powerpoints to say things what we already knew 10 years ago unless I have some convincing to be done internally to those who don't listen to common sense :)

Hi Zeyar,

I recommend you try to write a case and see how you go!

You'll find it's quite easy to have 1 or two mistakes by the end of it all :)

Should it be edited when there's a mistake? Absolutely! That said, probably 30% of cases I've seen (even ones I really like) have some sort of mistake.

But yes, a consultant case *should* be perfect in an ideal world.

Looking forward to seeing your case :)

When I first started solving cases, I was confused by some of the answers. Because we use these cases to learn something, wouldn't it be better if only say 1% contain wrong solutions and but not 30%? :) it would be less confusing for starters

I look forward to seeing the FREE casebook of 15 cases you create that has a 1% error rate :)

your sarcasm, smugness, passive aggressiveness and lack of respect is duly noted. I do not need to prove myself to you :)
