Rejection from PWC consulting internship after assessment

Sorry to hear about the rejection.

It is difficult to comment without knowing more about your performance. The reasons could be related to any of the following:

• Not finishing in time
• Wrong math
• Misunderstanding the questions
• Lack of familiarity with the format
• Pressure due to time constraints

Also, many tests are now quite different (eg Imbellus Solve vs BCG Chatbot), therefore the issue may not always be the same.

The best thing you can do for the next tests is to work specifically on simulation for those tests.

It could be a combination of your assessment and resume.

If you send me your resume I can take a look. In terms of the assessments, frankly the main thing you can do is study/practice more! How many practice questions did you go through before taking the test? If you did a lot and still weren't able to pass, then ultimately you should consider coaching to get you across the line.

First of all, dont be discouraged ! there are many consulting firms out there that would be happy to take you. I applied to many firms before i got my offer and indeed got rejected by McK and Bain before I got an offer from Oliver Wyman (and have been very grateful later on about these previous rejections)

Second, you can always email the recruiting team asking them for clarifications (they might or might not explain but worth a shot). It might not be the assessment as many other dimensions come into place (the reason might also have nothing to do with you - so dont take these rejections personally)

Sorry to hear about that! However, it´s great that you are so actively looking for feedback and seem so eager to improve. 

Most of the online tests are very similar, and test the same skillset. It´s a good thing, since you can prep for them with a very unified approach. Although this may not seem so at first sight since the formats may differ, what is important here -as well as when solving cases- is the core skillset they are trying to test. This is common, and the most important skills are:

80-20 analysis: capacity to analyze, interpret and extract conclusions quickly and in a agile way from a ton of data -of which not all is useful-

Analytic and critical thinking: many ways tested with graphs, charts and tables, that you need to understand and derive decisions or insights from

Mathematical skills: are always somehow present, for which you need to be fast int he basics

The way to get better is practicing as much as possible with similar exercises -those targeted at the same skillset-. Hence, I would strongly recommend you practice it with the Integrated Reasoning part of the GMAT exam.

There are free exams in the internet that you can use for practice (the one of LBS MBA page, VERITAS prep, as well as some free trials for courses such as the one of The Economist (gmat.economist)

Furthermore, you can leverage the MBB tests (in myconsultingoffer, psychometricinstitute, and many others)
