Hello! O'Nell here!
Thanks for taking a look at my profile, I'm right here to help you with your case prep.
My coaching philosophy
My coaching philosophy centers around your needs and goals, not my experiences or knowledge. So, don't expect me to give you textbook answers. Instead, let's have a conversation where you set the agenda, and we work together to identify areas where you need coaching.
If you're not sure where to start, that's okay! Just be honest with me about where you are in your process. From there, my job is twofold:
- To provide you tools to feel more comfortable with the case interview format
- To raise your awareness around potential blind spots and areas for improvement
Case interviews - my approach
When it comes to case interviews, I believe that effective communication is key and the main objective. So, I focus on helping you shift your approach from a mechanical process looking for an answer to an informed and dynamic intellectual discussion. We'll work on unlocking your unique communication style and packaging your thinking effectively.
Why should you work with me?
If you're wondering why you should choose me, well, I've been in your shoes before. I started case prepping five years ago as an undergrad trying to figure out which industry to start my career in. I've done over 100 mock case interviews and have learned from my failures and successes, which I believe makes me a valuable coach.
For full transparency, here's a quick list of my failures and successes (all for internships):
- Failed a supply chain consulting interview with Deloitte
- Passed a first and final round with Accenture Consulting
- Failed a first round with Bain x2
- Failed a first round with Mckinsey
- Passed a first round with Mckinsey
- Failed a final round with Mckinsey
- Successful first and final round with BCG (internship, then got a full-time offer)
Trust me when I say, there's A LOT of learnings behind all these interviews! Additionally, I have more than three years of consulting under my belt now and I have conducted interviews at this point. I know what your interviewers will be looking for and I can help you prep accordingly.
A typical 1hr session with me - what to expect?
During our first coaching session, we'll start with a brief chat to get to know each other and discuss your needs. Then, we'll jump right into mock case practice, followed by feedback and discussion, and finally, a recap and next steps for you to work on before our next session. I provide the material don't worry and will come ready with cases for you.
We can also include behavioral in the session or have dedicated sessions for them - this is the most overlooked part of the interview but it is critical to advancing and getting offers. You are more likely to have a positive answer from a good case / outstanding behavioral combo than outstanding case / underwhelming behavioral.
I hope this helps you get a better sense of my coaching approach, and I look forward to working with you!
