I’m an ex-BCG consultant, NYU Stern MBA, founder of Custom Case Coach, and professional educator. Since I started coaching in 2020, I’ve run 5,000+ coaching sessions with 1,000+ candidates across 100+ countries and helped candidates secure 500+ consulting offers.
My approach is simple: learn WHY & HOW — not just WHAT to memorize. I want you to understand how to think through unfamiliar problems, identify what actually matters, and eventually perform without needing a coach beside you.

📚 WHY DO I COACH? BECAUSE I LOVE TEACHING
Long before I became a case coach, I was already teaching.
I’ve taught Economics, French, English, and Agile methodology. At NYU Stern, I found myself spending a huge amount of time helping classmates with consulting recruiting and case preparation. After BCG, I started coaching as a small side project in 2020.
That side project eventually became 5,000+ coaching sessions, and in 2023 I founded Custom Case Coach.
Today, coaching is my profession.
I have also delivered paid consultant training for firms including PwC UK and Kearney Australia, as well as consulting recruiting and case interview workshops for universities around the world.

💡 I DON’T JUST WANT TO SHOW YOU HOW I WOULD SOLVE A CASE
There are plenty of former consultants who can solve a case well, watch you solve one, and tell you what you did wrong.
That is not enough for me.
I fundamentally believe that we don’t go to school simply to learn a topic. We learn how to learn.
My coaching works the same way.
I don’t want to teach you the framework for market entry, the framework for profitability, or the answer to a particular brainstorming question.
I want to teach you how to approach an unfamiliar problem, understand what actually matters, structure it logically, and develop the answer yourself.
That is why so much of my coaching focuses on mindset shifts, first principles, and transferable problem-solving skills rather than memorization.
The goal is not for you to think:
“What would Ian do here?”
The goal is for you to know what to do yourself.

Over the years, I’ve converted an enormous amount of what I used to teach live into a complete Custom Case Coach learning system.
Depending on your program, that can include:
100+ training videos, 300+ supporting resources, real interview and take-home cases, interactive simulations, case drills, fit preparation, applications support, networking guidance, and recruiting tools covering the journey end to end.
Why?
Because I do not want you paying me $399/hour to teach something you could learn effectively on your own.
I want our live sessions focused on the areas where expert coaching creates the most value:
Diagnosis. Targeted practice. Feedback. Correction. Reframing.
The parts that require a real person to understand what is holding you back and help you fix it.
My objective is not to maximize the number of sessions you book.
It is to create the most possible impact and value per minute, accelerate your progress, and get you to the point where you no longer need me.
