How long after MBB second round interviews is it acceptable to follow up?

During the waiting period, how much time should you let pass before following up?

Additionally, is it ok to follow up 3-4 days later asking for an approximate timeframe?

Hi,

You question is really normal.

During the waiting period, how much time should you let pass before following up?

I would say 10 days is a good delay.

Cheers,

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on the progress in the application process thus far!

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your questions:

  • First of all, I would advise you to wait at least one week after your interviews before following up. This shows patience and respect for the process.
  • Moreover, following up after 3-4 days for an approximate timeframe can be perceived as a bit too eager. It might be better to give the firm enough time to deliberate.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on your specific situation, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hi!

Sometimes it can take up to two weeks.

I wouldn't follow-up after 3-4 days. Give them at least 10 days.

I know it's difficult to be waiting around (I also waited for 10 days after my McK interview), but rest assured, they didn't forget about you.

If it helps you, keep on applying to other firms. This way you can at least diversify some of your risk.

Good luck!
Cristian

Hi there! It's understandable to be eager for an update after the second round of MBB interviews. Generally, it's acceptable to wait around 1-2 weeks before following up. This allows sufficient time for the interviewers to complete their evaluations and for the firm to make a decision. Following up 3-4 days later for an approximate timeframe is also acceptable, as it shows your continued interest and enthusiasm for the opportunity. However, keep in mind that the decision-making process can vary, and it's important to be patient during this time. If you do decide to follow up, I recommend reaching out to the HR contact or the person who has been coordinating your interviews. They will be able to provide you with the most accurate information regarding the timeline. Best of luck!

After a full week it's more than fair to follow up for MBB as their processes are more organized. Don't worry too much coming across too eager. Won't change the rating of interviewers ;-)

Hi there,

Depends on the purpose of the follow up.

Thank you note: Can be later the same day or next day (no later than that). It's optional but generally well received. Impact is none-marginal and may help tip the scale where it's really 50:50.

Enquiry about status: Don't bother until 2 weeks after the interview if you don't hear anything. This can take a while and there's no point in pushing. Impact is 0, other than for you to manage anxiety during the wait.

Hope this helps a bit. Best of luck!

Moritz

Hi,

I would follow up typically a week or maximum 2 weeks after the final round. When I was at BCG, we tried to get back to candidates within 1-2 weeks max.

You should give a couple of weeks before reaching out.

Hi there,

Generally, following up is more for your peace of mind rather than actually having any impact on the process (you can't change anything just from a follow-up).

I wouldn't follow-up in 3-4 days (too pushy and you “waste” a future reminder).

Give it 2 weeks.

Hi,

I would wait at least a week to follow up.
If they don't get back to you within 2 weeks, then definitely you should follow up.

Regards,
Nick
