I sent out my application a month ago and still had no reply. I‘m a fresh graduate from LSE. I thinkthat it’s because of the application cycle for campus recruitment is already closed(at least for the local university cycle). So they might be waiting for uk uni recruitment cycle to close down before starting the screening.

*as I’m a fresh grad I don’t know if I’m going to be following this campus recruitment cycle or not

Should I reach out to the HR? I don’t particularly know anyone in the firm that I can ask. So what’s the best method to ask about the progress of my application?

Hi there,

You have two main options:

  1. Look for someone that can refer you ex-post. If they have not screened yet your application, it could help to get noticed. You can find more on referrals here: https://www.preplounge.com/en/consulting-forum/hey-everyonehope-all-is-well-3176
  2. Reach out to HR. They won’t probably be able to provide feedback. But at least, they may be able to provide a timeline for when they will communicate results. I would call rather than send an email

If possible, I would go for 1, otherwise for 2.

Best,

Francesco

Hi there,

This is indeed an interesting question which is probably relevant for quite a lot of users, so I am happy to provide my perspective on it:

  • No matter the situation with on-campus recruiting deadlines, I would advise you to contact the recruiting department since you should have received a reponse either way until now. The probably best way to find information would be to have a look at the career section of the local Bain website to find contact information.
  • Given the moment you applied, you were most probably too late for on-campus recruiting yet regular recruiting cycle should still be open until end of October.

In case you want a more detailed discussion on how to proceed, please feel free to contact me directly.

I hope this helps,

Hagen

Hi there,

First of all, for future reference, you want to do everything in your power to make your application optimal. Make sure you've had your resume + cover letter reviewed by experts and make sure you've networked extensively (ideally getting a referral).

For just an application without prior contact or networking, there's not much you can do but wait. Feel free to reach out to HR, but don't hold your breath about a response.

Otherwise, unless you have received word, you are not yet rejected, so, chin up!

Fingers crossed for you!

Hi!

Yes, try reaching out to HR. If the application cycle is closed, network your way to a referral!

Good luck,

Anto

Hey there,

I would definitely reach out to HR, preferably by phone to sort out any logistical details. Try to get a number and if not possible, email them.

Cheers,

Florian

Francesco gave good advice, but I would add one point. You can reach out as well to the campus recruiting team. That should be your first option (if you know or are able to find out who they are).

If this was a standalone application without a referral, then it might take a while. If you can network and find someone who can push your application then it might be better.

Regardless, reaching out to HR will always be advised. They may not be the most responsive, but you got to chase them a bit.
