Re-considering my application

After getting an automatic resume screening rejection from Kearney, I found an internal referral who is ready to refer me and share my CV. What are the chances of getting my application reconsidered if they referred me ?

Hi there,

Q: After getting an automatic resume screening rejection from Kearney, I found an internal referral who is ready to refer me and share my CV. What are the chances of getting my application reconsidered if they referred me?

Most likely they won’t reconsider the application for that office and position, given they have just rejected you.

However, given you have already a referral, you can disclose the rejection and ask if it could make sense to apply again in a few months / for another position (if relevant in your case) / for another office (if relevant in your case). A referral might help to shorten the ban period.

Good luck!

Hi,

Based on my time at BCG, the rejection at the CV stage still means a rejection / temporary ban.

But no harm trying again. You could also check with your network / contact if this is feasible first before getting their help to refer you.

All the best!

Hi there,

There's only one way to find out ;)

Not sure about the internal workings of Kearney for that particular topic but most firms don't ‘ban’ you so long as you haven't interviewed. In other words, you're allowed to apply again, and referrals usually help a great deal.

Whether or not they have a particular mechanism to prevent this from happening, I can't be sure. However, I wouldn't imagine that to be the case.

You have nothing to lose so go for it! Best of luck!

Hi!

At most consulting companies a CV screening rejection does not entail a ban, so you are free to try and apply again through a referral. You've got nothing to lose here if you try.

If it doesn't work out, reapply after you've gained new relevant experience for the position.

Good luck!

Hi there!

Small - usually a rejection means that they won't consider the application for another year.

You can still give it a shot. I've seen it work in a few situations that they re-considered.

Otherwise, apply to other firms in the meantime and if you don't get an offer when it's been already like 9 months since the Kearney rejection, then you can apply again.

Best,
Cristian
