Hi guys, I just received Accenture Strategy's manager position offer. From what the firm told me, manager's responsibility sounds quite similar to big four's manager. There's a senior manager above, and senior manager is the one in charge of overall project delivery, meaning that senior manager seems more equivalent to MBB's project lead / engagement manager.

I tried to check Accenture's salary on the website but it's no so clear. What would be a good benchmark for Accenture Strategy's Manager Position salary? Is it usually somewhere in between MBB's consultant - project lead level? Is the salary usually negotiable?

Hi there,

Congratulations on the offer! In terms of your questions:

1) What would be a good benchmark for Accenture Strategy's Manager Position salary? Is it usually somewhere in between MBB's consultant - project lead level?

It might depend on the office/country but for the ones where I collected data points, it is quite below MBB manager level. You can check the articles and data points below:

2) Is the salary usually negotiable?

Normally in consulting the base salary for a given position is fixed for everyone. What you can usually negotiate is:

  • The signing bonus
  • The relocation bonus
  • The seniority you join

The easiest way to negotiate is to have an “opportunity cost”, ideally due to another offer (or, in the case of relocation, to actual costs present).

Best,

Francesco

Hi there!

You're totally right about how you understand the role positioning.

I don't have exact numbers on the compensation, but I indeed expect something between consultant and PL at MBB level.

Best of luck with the transition!
Cristian

Hello,

Congratulations on your job offer, that's excellent news!

I would check Glassdoor and similar sources. The salary is usually not negotiable at entry levels and becomes more negotiable the more senior you get. Regarding your position, my guess is that they would have a standard salary set for new managers that's not really negotiable, but it might be worth asking around.

Hi there,

Congrats on the offer!

Love seeing all of these offer posts amongst all the rumors that “no” hiring is happening!

Salary is generally not as negotiable in the lower levels, but for upper level you can try. You should also absolutely negotiate on signing bonus (amongst other things).

Hi there,

suggest you check on glassdoor (should have plenty of data points on Accenture Strat) + ask people you know in the firm.

Base salary among comparable firms is usually fixed or at least has a payband range to operate within, so there can be some updside potential, if your experience compared to the the average experience of peers justifies it.

Hope this helps.

Regards, Andi
