I have been doing research on the interview process for LEK and people have said one of the rounds of cases is a Market Sizing Case? I am curious what the difference between a market sizing case and a market sizing question (eg: how many people drink coffee in the US per day) is. I would appreciate if someone could share what a market sizing case would look like and insight on how to approach it.

Hi,

Basically, the market sizing may be a part of the bigger case (when you are analyzing the market and have to estimate its size) or it can be a separate case. If its e separate case, most probably the interviewer will expect you to drill down into the details much more.

It means the same thing! Just a wording difference.

Or it might just be imprecise wording ;-)

But if there is really a difference, I concur with Benjamin. One direction it could go into is fleshing out different subsegments of the market, working out differences between sales volumes (# of items sold) and sales revenues ($ / €), or looking further into up-stream or down-stream markets...

Hi

Basically, it mean that the market sizing is more complexe and a bit longer to solve than a simple question within a widder case. Thus this will require more initial structuring, more agility to build hypothesis, expect longer calculation.
