How does the hiring process for a Finance Intern differ from that of typical consulting positions at BCG? Will there be case interviews? How do they check Excel competences?
Finance Intern - Hiring Process

Hi,
- Focus: The Finance Intern hiring process at BCG is usually separate from consulting tracks and focuses more on technical and functional skills than case interviews.
- Assessment content: Instead of full cases, expect competency-based interviews, possibly a technical assessment or Excel test, and questions on financial concepts, reporting, and data analysis.
In any case, I suggest checking with the recruiter - send them a kind email, asking for the interview agenda. Best of luck!

Hi,
The general process will be the same: Send in a CV, maybe a initial HR conversation/chat, then 2-4 rounds of interviews with various levels of leadership e.g. Manager then Directors in last interviews.
The difference will be in the content of the interview - you will be asked or tested on the technicalities of the function e.g Excel competency, modelling, data analysis etc.
I would reach out to HR to confirm what is expected in the process.
Good luck

First and foremost, ask the recruiter exactly this question.
They will give you the most up-to-date and granular answer. If it's not clear, then follow-up with them.
What's unclear based on your question is whether the Finance role is an internal one or it's a consultant role within the Finance practice? The recruitment process is going to vary significantly between the two.
Best,
Cristian
