I applied to BCG Dubai last year in October, but got rejected in final round on February.

Can I apply again this recruitment season or does the ban period start from the moment you get rejected?

Hi there!

Ban usually starts from when you were rejected, but it's not set in stone.

If you feel ready and you feel like you progressed since the last round, by all means reach out to HR and ask that you apply again. They tend to be flexible with these things.

Best of luck and I hope it really works out for you this time!

Hello there,

depending on the firm, the ban period might start from the moment you applied or from the moment you got rejected. If in doubt, just give a call to HR to avoid reapplying too soon.

I advise you to also consider the following, to maximize your chances this time:

  1. Update and improve your resume and cover letter by proving that you made progress since your last application (e.g., through new work experiences or promotions, industry-related certifications/enhanced language skills, etc.)
  2. Secure a referral before re-applying ideally from a senior colleague at your target office and overall network by engaging with a variety of professionals in your industry and target company
  3. Start prepping as soon as possible for your interviews

I hope this helps and wish you the best!

Kind regards

Margot

Hi there,

The honest answer? It depends.

You should 100% reach out to HR and bring this topic up when netowrking as well.

Essentially, this question is a great excuse to get them to see/remember your name.

Now, if you were rejected last time, make sure you're working to fix any weaknesses. Here's some reading to do this:

Hi there,

Q: Can I apply again this recruitment season or does the ban period start from the moment you get rejected?

Usually, the ban applies from when you are rejected. You might still apply for this recruiting cycle if you find a referral and they have not specifically mentioned that you cannot apply within 12 months.

You can find more on referrals below:

Good luck!

Usually the ban period is counted from the application date, though I'd reconfirm with an HR, just to be on the safe side.

Hi,

The ban starts from the rejection. In my region (SEA) it was typically 12 months.

You should check with local HR what the ban period is.

The only exception is if you get into a top MBA program - then its typically ‘reset’.

All the best!
