Hi all, I had my R1 with McKinsey and received a call from the EM that they would move me to the final round. However, it's been more than a week since my call with the EM and the recruiter still has not followed up with the logistics. I emailed the recruiter earlier this week but still no response. Is it normal?

Recruiter not following up with interview logistics
Overview of answers
Hi there,
First of all, congratulations on passing the first round of interviews with McKinsey!
This is indeed an interesting question which is probably relevant for quite a lot of users, so I am happy to provide my perspective on it:
- Unfortunately, it seems that McKinsey (and other consulting companies) currently have quite volatile processes.
- Depending on whether you are under time pressure or not, I would advise you to wait another week and politely call the recruiter explaining your situation and asking about the current status - or wait until you hear from them. Obviously, you would not want to leave a negative impression with the support functions even before your career start.
In case you want a more detailed discussion on how final round interviews with McKinsey differ, please feel free to contact me directly.
I hope this helps,
Hagen
Hi there,

It is definitely possible that you will have to wait a bit before scheduling the final due to partners' availability. I would recommend to wait at least another week before following up.
Good luck with the final!
Francesco
Hey there,
Could you clarify which office you are talking about?
Pre-COVID, the interview scheduling and organization worked much better at McKinsey. Currently, longer wait times and issues with scheduling are unfortunately quite normal across all offices.
Try calling the recruiter early next week if you have not heard back. If you are in a hurry or have a cross-offer, also communicate that.
Cheers,
Florian
Hi there,
It's only been a week! Don't stress. I've had candidates who have had to wait 4+ weeks.
They're trying to find availability, and that takes time when it's with busy Partners/EMs.
I would wait another 1.5 weeks before reaching out. For the next time this happens, please don't message them after only a few days!
Unfortunately, it is normal. Right now everyone is increadibly busy and it's quite hard to schedule interviews. Have some patience.
