This is purely a difference in naming conventions across firms.
There are EMs, project managers, project leads, managers, etc. across firms and its always referring to the same role!

I can concur with the others. Individual firms give individual names to the same roles. Project manager, engagement manager, case manager, project leader - it's all essentially synonymous.
