BCG Platinion R1 Interview

Hi everyone, 

It is quite certain, that I will be invited to the R1 interview at BCG Platinion in the near future, since I will be applying as a referral of an established colleague. 

I am aspiring the role as an IT-Consultant. My background is in ERP transformation consulting (~2yrs), but I want to shift my perspective from ERP centric delivery towards IT-strategy cases.  

Since I just started with prepping cases, I am grateful for any advice the community has regarding the application process @Platinion. 
So hit me with all you know - application cycle between interview rounds, reaching out to interviewers beforehand, case topics, etc.

A few pointers for your prep:

  • Interview format: Expect 2–3 rounds with a mix of fit and case. Platinion cases are often tech-heavy—think IT architecture choices, system integration trade-offs, or tech due diligence—not just generic profitability cases
  • Emphasize structured thinking even with technical content. They’ll look for clarity, logic, and business impact awareness
  • Know your story: Be ready to explain why you’re moving from delivery to strategy, and how your past experience adds value
  • Reaching out: If you know who’s interviewing you, a short, polite LinkedIn message to say you’re looking forward to meeting them can help—but not essential
  • Interview cycle: Usually 1–2 weeks between rounds, though it can vary

Practice tech-focused cases and keep sharpening your structure—Platinion wants strategic thinkers with hands-on credibility.

Hi there, 

I see you've received a few great answers on this already. 

I'd recommend you proactively clarify with the recruiter whether your Platinum interviews will be industry-specific or not (it depends on the role and the office). This will help you have a more tailored preparation.
