Almost a week after BCG Final Round, is this a bad sign?

I had my last interview of the final round last Wednesday, now it is Tuesday (yesterday was a holiday) and I still haven't received results. I emailed the recruiter last Friday, and she said one of the interviewers had to take unexpected time off, leading to some delay. She said she hopes to get back to me early this week. She sounded very enthusiastic in her email. Is this a good sign or bad sign? Is it because the other two interviewers might have given positive feedback, thus leading her to sound enthusiastic?

Hi,

The reality is that you will never know the result until the result is officially given to you - it's impossible to predict what is going on and what the result could be, despite 'hints' or what you interpret as a hint.

So, its difficult, but all you can do is wait. All the best :)

Hello,

From my experience as a BCG Senior Manager, they will reach out as soon as a decision is made. So I would say do not try to interpret anything from the recruiter's message. Hope you get a positive response !

Kind Regards,

Sasha

Hey there :)

This kind of delay is honestly quite normal and not necessarily a bad sign at all. Final decisions at BCG sometimes take longer, especially if one interviewer is out, because all three need to align before a final call is made. The fact that the recruiter responded quickly, explained the reason clearly, and sounded enthusiastic is actually a very positive sign. If they weren’t interested, you'd likely hear back faster with a no. So hang in there, it’s very possible that the feedback so far is strong and they just want to finalize it properly.

Best,
Alessa :)

Hey,

It’s likely worth taking what the recruiter said at face value and not reading into the tone too much.

I’m sure you’ll hear in the next week or two!

Best of luck.

Hi there,

Q: She sounded very enthusiastic in her email. Is this a good sign or bad sign?

I would not consider this a factor. There are multiple reasons why she replied in an enthusiastic way, thus I don’t think you can infer anything from this.

Regarding the timeline, typically with MBB you hear back within a week after a final; however, it sometimes takes longer, and it doesn't necessarily mean you had a bad performance (in your case, the reason appears to be a lack of alignment between interviewers).

Good luck!

Francesco
