Would two associates or Analysts at mckinsey make the same amount when they join or it is dependent on their previous salaries and they get a certain percentage bump ?
Salary range

At McKinsey, the compensation for Associates and Analysts is typically determined based on a combination of factors, including their previous salaries and the firm's standard compensation structure. While I cannot provide specific details on the current compensation policies at McKinsey, I can offer some insights based on my experience as a strategy consultant.
Typically, when Associates and Analysts join McKinsey, their compensation packages are designed to be competitive and aligned with industry standards. However, it's important to note that individual circumstances, such as previous salaries and relevant experience, may influence the specific details of their compensation.
McKinsey aims to attract and retain top talent, and as such, they consider various factors when determining compensation. These factors may include the candidate's educational background, prior work experience, and performance during the interview process.
While I cannot provide a definitive answer on whether two Associates or Analysts would make the same amount when they join, it is possible that their compensation could differ based on their individual circumstances. McKinsey's compensation structure is designed to reward performance and provide competitive compensation packages to attract and retain top talent.
If you have specific questions about compensation at McKinsey, I recommend reaching out to the firm directly or consulting their official resources for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
Please note that compensation policies and structures may vary over time and across different regions, so it's important to consider the specific context and consult reliable sources for the most accurate information.

Hi there,
As with any job, there's salary bands for a certain role. Whether or not you're on the higher or lower end depends on a few variables e.g., educational and professional background, and also your ability to negotiate.
For example, when I joined McKinsey as an Associate with a top-tier MBA and 6+ years of high-quality experience in the O&G sector, I had a higher signing bonus and overall compensation package than some other Associates.
Hope this helps a bit. Best of luck!
Moritz

Hi!
They get the same.
Base is always fixed based on the salary band for the role.
Their bonuses might differ based on their start date, performance, etc.
Best,
Cristian

Hi there,

I assume you are referring to consultants in the same office.
Normally the base salary for a given position is fixed for everyone. What you can usually negotiate is:
- The signing bonus
- The relocation bonus
- The seniority you join
Best,
Francesco

Hi there,
Salary baseline is the same by position (business analyst, associate, etc.) in each geography. There might be differences, especially in associate roles and above by their sign in bonus. Some people manage to negotiate relocation bonuses as well.
Best,
Alberto

That's right! Same amount. Bbut, remember, signing bonus might be different if one knows how to negotiate properly ;)
Then, annual bonuses are given based on performance.
