Say an MBB firm is taking a long to get back to you after a second round, and you have another offer but are not pressed for time. Is it worth letting them know?
I know that in theory it shouldn’t have an effect on the result, but common sense says that this would make a “no” more likely.

Yes, I would let them know.
Tell them that you received another offer and are asked to respond to it. And they are your first option so you're looking forward to hearing from them on whether they're extending you an offer or not.
This will make them reach a decision faster and it's more likely to tilt them in a positive direction than a negative one.

I tend to disagree with your “common sense” statement. You will only get a “no” if they didn't think your interview performance was compelling enough. Consulting firms don't shy away from extending offers just because a candidate they really like has already received another offer. As long as the candidate hasn't signed anything, everything is still on the table.
If they are interested in you, they will rather try to speed up the process for you if you tell them that you have another offer pending and that you will need to make a decision soon (but that they would actually be your preferred choice).
You are not forcing a “no” by following up on the status of your application because of another offer you received. If they give you a “no” in response, you would have gotten a “no” anyway, only later based on their own timeline.

I advise as well that you disclose you have another offer. This will not only help to accelerate things on the MBB firm which is taking longer (it doesn't sound as a priority to you) but also to negotiate your final offer (specially sign-in bonus).

If you have another MBB offer, I would let them know. This helps to speed up the decision making process, especially if they are leaning towards hiring you.
If you did not do well and they are not keen on you, then technically the firm has less incentive to get back to you in time (as they do not want to compete for you).
That being said, MBB normally tries to get back asap even if it is a reject as part of professional courtesy/professionalism and to ensure a good candidate experience.

If you are looking to accelerate their interviews, then yes, you should let them know (so that they can schedule the next one).
If you have plenty of time for that other offer, then it wouldn't really affect anything.
You should disclose the offer, but do so in good faith i.e. to be transparent that you are considering it, you would still like to proceed in the process but are now under a timeline.
