Interview prep resources

Hi everyone,

I’m about to begin the interview rounds at BCG and would love any recommendations on materials to help me prepare.

Looking forward to your insights!

Best, Pieter

Hi Pieter,

I recommend to prepare the interviews by combining multiple resources. Start by reading some books to understand the case basics and framework. Leverage some online resources to practice cases with peers to improve you case skills. Use a coach to help you during the entire process and to get help on your main points of improvement and bring your skills to a next level.

Feel free to reach out via chat for further info.

Good luck!

Mattijs

Hi Pieter,

I recommend for BCG prep, focus on CaseCoach for structured practice, BCG’s own site for real-style cases, and PrepLounge to get live practice with peers. Maybe add Victor Cheng for frameworks and sharpen your fit stories with clear impact. Practicing out loud is key! Best of luck!

Thanks for the question, Pieter. I second everything that the other coaches have mentioned. Would emphasize that nothing replaces live interview practice with another human being. That's where you get to practice the intangibles like how you deliver insights verbally, how you keep your composure when answering questions etc.

In terms of resources, my personal take is that the Crafting Cases course is one of the best free resources out there for the modern approach to cracking case interviews, though reading Case in Point and Victor Cheng's stuff is also great as a foundation (though can be a bit outdated). Hope this helps and all the best!

You CAN make it! | xMckinsey | 1.5h session | +200 sessions |Free 20-Minute Call

Hello Pieter,

Adding to what was stated, I recommend crafting cases free course and hiring a coach in the middle and at the end of the studying process to see if you’re using the right method (so you don’t cristalize bad habits) and to solve for any gaps that may prevent you to get an offer. Do not overlook the fit part, it’s as important as the case one :) there are several articles related to this, google for PARADE + FIT + PEI.

Best,

Mari

Hi Pieter, it would be helpful to know the following before suggesting you something:

  1. Your current level of preparedness; and
  2. Your interview's estimated timelines; and
  3. Target office location; and
  4. Your total years of experience; and
  5. Your education / professional background

All these parameters (and more) can modify the approach I would recommend.

In all cases I would recommend to use as few resources for learning as possible. and focus on a balance of case prep and Fit prep. Fit prep is often too ignored and becomes a greater (and untold) cause for rejection.

If talking about purely case-prep - I offer a 3-hour Masterclass that can take you from a "Zero" level to a "Ready-to-solve-cases" level in just 3 hours non-stop. You will NOT need any additional learning resources beyond the Masterclass.
