Or are they on-site? I know I depends on the office, but what is the norm in 2023?
Are MBB interviews being done online nowadays?

Hi there,
Q: Are MBB interviews being done online nowadays? Or are they on-site?
MBB are still using online interviews. As you mentioned, it might depend on the office as well.
Below you can find a few tips if you have a video interview.
- Prepare the place for the call in advance. A quiet environment is a must-have. Also, be sure that you have a proper background.
- Test audio and webcam. Check in advance that both work properly.
- Prepare in front of you all the material you need (eg structures). So you won't have to look for it during the interview/ won't make it clear you are reading it.
- Smile during the call. It is an excellent way to show energy.
- Use numbers when communicating your structure. This is important as well in a face-to-face interview but even more in a virtual one. This will make it easier for the interviewer to follow you since they probably cannot see your notes. As an example:“In order to help our client, I would like to focus on three main areas. First, I would like to focus on [FIRST TOPIC], secondly on [SECOND TOPIC], finally on [THIRD TOPIC]. Let me start with the first one".
- Prepare your own questions. Relevant questions at the end are a great way to show your interest in the company and get additional points. This is particularly important in a phone/video interview, as the interviewer will connect less with you. In the first reply at the link below you can find some tips on the ideal questions to ask at the end of your call: Great Questions to Ask at the End of an Interview.
- Bonus: record yourself using Zoom before the interview, simulating the call. You might notice a few things to correct.

Hello A,
If you are applying for a different location, the first and second rounds of the interview process are typically conducted virtually. However, in rare cases, if there are many applicants from a specific region, the firm may fly in interviewers to conduct in-person interviews.
Please note that this is not a common occurrence unless you are an MSc or MBA student.
Wishing you the best of luck in your application process!

Victoria

Hi there,
I think this is an interesting question that may be relevant for many people. I would be happy to share my thoughts on it:
- Based on the information provided to me and the experience of my coachees, globally, most interviews are still being held virtually.
- Still, while this certainly is interesting information, there is very little to no impact on your chances of getting an offer.
If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to address your specific situation, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.
Best,
Hagen

Hi there,
online still carries a significant portion because it is more convenient and cost efficient. Ever since Covid, it has also lost the previously attributed negative reputation of being an insufficient method to determine a candidate's suitability.
Some companies have started doing in-person recruiting again though. This can vary based on office location and general region.
But being prepared for online interviews is a no-regret move.
Good luck

Hi there,
The norm is still very much online/virtual. There have been some instances where my candidates went in person. However, this was told to them well in advance.

I’ve only seen online so far
