I am interested to apply to McKinsey but I am unsure which role would be best suited. I have a LLB from the UK and 3.5 years of experience (1.5 in due dilligence research and compliance plus 2 in public sector advisory). I have been told by my local office that hiring target for Business Analyst for 2019 have been met and if I am keen, I should apply in Q3 for 2020 intake.
Should I consider applying for the Junior Associate role now or wait to apply in July for Busines Analyst role?

I believe with 3.5 years of experience you should apply for the Junior Associate role. Just make sure that your overall profile is well-rounded and meets McKinsey requirements in terms of academics, work experience, and leadership.

this really depends on the country where you are applying, as in different countries people with same seniority join at different levels (for example, at BCG a PhD graduate would join as senior associate – pre MBA position – in Italy, while could join as Junior consultant in other countries). The best thing would be to find a referral for your application (which would strengthen your application anyway) and ask him a suggestion given the policy of your local office.

Actually, the Junior associate role is more senior than the Analyst role. Thus you can either apply for an analyst now or wait to apply as a Junior Associate in 1-2 years.
