How did you prepare for your case interview? Any tips and tricks?

Which company fits my personal values? And to my life plan? Do I want to focus on a broad range of areas or would I rather specialize? And if I narrow down my project area, in what?These and many more questions are probably on your mind when you start application processes for management consulting. In the end, the conclusion remains: You can only answer it yourself.  Wie würdest Du ECON in 2-3 Sätzen beschreiben?Für mich ist ECON ein Ort, wo ich jeden Tag neue Möglichkeiten für meine persönliche Weiterentwicklung habe. Gleichzeitig arbeite ich an den spannendsten Themen der Energiewende mit meinen E.ON Kund:innen und Kolleg:innen zusammen. Wie hast Du Dich auf Dein Case Interview vorbereitet?Ich habe mir einige der typischen Vorbereitungsbücher bestellt und die Angebote im Internet wahrgenommen. Was aus meiner Sicht allerdings wirklich zählt, ist die Kreativität und die Flexibilität während der Interviews. Oft lassen sich nicht die Standard-Frameworks nutzen, die man z.B. im Studium gelernt hat. Ein gutes Verständnis für das Business ist dann wichtig. Wie sieht Dein Alltag als Beraterin bei ECON aus?Ein typischer Berateralltag besteht aus drei Hautkomponenten: Zusammen im ECON Team denken wir voraus, was die nächsten Schritte im Projekt sind und entwickeln zum Beispiel Ideen für Präsentationen. Dies besprechen wir dann mit unseren E.ON Partnern. Im Nachgang passen wir, basierend auf dem erhaltenen Feedback, die Sachen an und machen uns Gedanken über die nächsten Schritte. Was hat sich für Dich in Bezug auf Deine Arbeit durch Corona geändert?Durch Corona ist die Wahl unseres Arbeitsortes deutlich flexibler geworden. Wir entscheiden im Projektteam, an welchen Tagen wir ins Büro fahren. So stellen wir sicher, dass wir wichtige E.ON Partnertermine weiterhin in Person teilnehmen und gemeinsam vor Ort das Projekt voranbringen.  Wie würdest Du ECON in 2-3 Sätzen beschreiben?ECON ist für mich persönlich charakterisiert von einer besonderen Kultur, Weiterentwicklung und Entrepreneurship. Kultur, weil wir eine besondere, kollaborative Teamatmosphäre haben, aufeinander achten, Mindfulness praktizieren und gemeinsam vielen Themen neben der Arbeit (z.B. D&I und Nachhaltigkeit) vorantreiben. Weiterentwicklung, weil wir viele Trainings zur professionellen und persönlichen Weiterentwicklung erhalten, regelmäßiges Feedback in unseren Standardprozessen verankert ist und zusätzliche Mentoren bekommen, welche unsere Weiterentwicklung betreuen. Entrepreneurship, weil jeder Input, unabhängig von Hierarchiestufe, gleich viel wert ist und bei uns jeder willkommen ist, Ideen und Verbesserungsvorschläge einzubringen. Damit haben wir die Möglichkeit, selbst Dinge bei ECON zu gestalten und zu verändern. Wie bist Du auf ECON aufmerksam geworden?Während meines Masterstudiums war ich Stipendiatin beim e-fellows.net Netzwerk. ECON hat damals ein Recruitingevent zum Thema Nachhaltigkeit angeboten, welches in einem Design Thinking Sprint angeboten wurde und unter anderem über e-fellows.net vermarktet wurde. Die Mischung aus dem Thema Nachhaltigkeit und der Methode Design Thinking fand ich spannend, weshalb ich mich bei dem Event beworben habe und eine Zusage erhalten habe. ECON hat mich dann während des Events durch die Kultur und Arbeitsmoral überzeugt. Wie verlief Dein Bewerbungsprozess bei ECON? Nach dem Recruiting Event habe ich von ECON eine Einladung erhalten, in den Recruitingprozess einzusteigen. Das Event hat dabei das erste, telefonische Interview ersetzt. Mein Bewerbungsprozess hat sich daher auf die Einreichung meiner aktuellen Bewerbungsunterlagen, ein telefonisches Vorbereitungsgespräch sowie das Assessment-Center mit Case Studies beschränkt. Wie hast Du Dich auf Dein Case Interview vorbereitet? Durch das telefonische Vorbereitungsgespräch mit ECON HR hatte ich einen guten Überblick, wie die Case-Interviews ablaufen werden. ECON hatte außerdem einen beispielhaften Case auf der Internetseite, welchen ich zur Übung herangezogen haben. Meine Hauptvorbereitung habe ich allerdings mit dem Buch „Case Study Training für Consultants“ von e-fellows.net durchgeführt, in Ergänzung mit einigen Cases aus dem Internet. Des Weiteren habe ich mein Wissen zur Energiebranche und deren Fachbegriffe durch Internet-Recherche erhöht. Diese Vorbereitung hat mich sehr gut auf den Interview-Tag vorbereitet. Klingt spannend?
