Onboarding and Offer Letter

Congrats on the verbal offer! I hope the written one comes through soon. 

I wouldn't be able to provide you with a clear range, or nothing more accurate than what you'd find on glassdoor or otherwise. 

If you're worried about how long they're taking, just shoot them a polite email and ask. It can take a week or two. That's absolutely normal. It's just about sorting the paperwork on their side.

Regarding onboarding - you'll have a training, a mentor and lots of help. And still, yes, it will feel like you're being thrown into a case anyway. Reach out to those around you for feedback and support. Everybody knows how difficult it is at the start.

To answer your questions 

• How long to offer letters take: Depends, sometimes due to internal approval processes, letters can between take 1–2 weeks, even longer somtimes - I recommend you reach out to the HR team every week to check in on the process
• Salary concern: MBBs follow structured "banded salaries" which are meant to be market related - If you are unhappy though, raise your concerns with HR before you sign your letter.
• Onboarding process: You won't be thrown into the deep-end, persay, so you'll start off with a week or so (it's about 3 weeks in mck) of training but right off the bat, you might be thrown into a project - you need to manage your own progress; set up time with the managers, partners etc. tell them what your skills are, what you'd like to learn, set up weekly check-ins - YOU need to manage YOUR OWN progress. I say this because the market is tough at the moment and even internally you need manage your own career
• Do not wait for work: While you have your intros and training, start reaching out to leadership, set up coffee chats, set up calls - make yourself known. You cannot rely on the your pd to line up projects for you.

(3) You’ll have an onboarding of about a week. Depending on the office you may shadow a senior, but it may be that you’ll be staffed directly. Expectations will be in accordance to your seniority not only in terms of overall professional experience, but at BCGX as well.

Totally fair to feel this way. Offer letters can sometimes take 1–2 weeks, depending on internal approvals—feel free to send a polite check-in if nothing by end of this week. For salary, BCGX tends to follow structured bands, so it shouldn’t be far off market rates even if they didn’t ask—if it feels too low, it’s okay to have a calm discussion before signing. Onboarding usually includes some training and intros, and often you get a bit of time to ramp up before being staffed—many new joiners shadow or start with lighter tasks first.
