Hi there!
HR will be going through offer letter with me, what should I expect during the 30 minutes call?
- What should I ask?
- What should I take note?
- Will I be allowed to have some time to consider?

Hi there,
First of all, congratulations on the offer from BCG!
I would be happy to share my thoughts on your questions:
You can find more on this topic here: Salaries in the consulting industry.
If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare that offer letter call, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.
Best,
Hagen
Congrats!
Read the letter in detail before the call and note down any components that you don't understand. Also, try brainstorming anything else that you might want to ask about the offer (e.g., benefits), but also about the post-offer process (e.g., starting date, onboarding process, etc.)
Don't be too stressed about it. In the sense that if you have questions, you can also ask them later on. But of course, once you sign the contract, that component is binding.
Best,
Cristian
Congratulations!
As other coaches have mentioned, they want to make sure you understand the fine print of the offer letter.
Do feel free to ask about things like comp (i.e., bonuses), benefits (e.g., medical), termination and severance conditions etc.
As Thabang mentioned, it's important to understand the conditions around investing, since there's a trend towards consulting firms restricting investments in individual stocks.
Best of luck.
Hi,
Congrats on the offer.
In general - the contracts for consulting team in BCG are standard - there is really not much negotiation or room for negotiation, except maybe for sign-on bonus and relocation benefits. But otherwise salary, pay etc - all of this are standardized.
In terms of the role you are offered, even if its a more junior one than you are expecting, you are unlikely to get a higher one even if you try and negotiate.
All the best!
Hey there,
Congratulations on getting the offer! well done
HR would want to take this opportunity to make sure that you are aligned in understanding on the nature and contents of the offer and use it as an opportunity to make sure that common questions and queries are addressed.
On your side, to get the most value from this meeting, it would be good to review the offer before the call and highlight anything and everything that is unclear to you or things you want more information about. Without knowing what is important to you or your circumstances, keep an eye out for the usual stuff (compensation and benefits, promotions / terminations / probationary terms, confidentiality requirements), but also may be good to look closely at their investment policy, ability (or not) to do side businesses and have side incomes, and any other clauses that impose restrictions to you and your life
You would have some time to consider, and generally you'd have a deadline of sorts in which to review and accept the offer. So post the meeting, you can go back and reflect a bit more before committing and signing
All the best
hey!
Congrats! In that call, HR will walk you through salary, signing bonus, start date, benefits, and any relocation or visa points. It’s very straightforward. You can definitely ask for time to consider—totally normal. Good things to ask: how flexible the start date is, how performance bonuses work, what typical progression looks like, and anything unclear in the letter.
Take notes on timelines and any clauses that stand out (like repayment of signing bonus if you leave early).
Let me know if you want to review your offer details after!
best,
Alessa :)
