Hi everyone does anyone know how hiring is for experienced hires right now for McKinsey? Is there a pause, normal hiring season, or still some uncertainty. I had a referral from a partner and still have not heard anything from a recruiter and I don’t have the contact info for the recruiter he sent it to. I was told by a friend who works at Bain that there might be a freeze of experienced hires. Just curious!
Experienced hire landscape McKinsey

In general I have seen a bit of an uptick in hiring from the first half of this year. Overall however hiring at MBB is much slower than even last year.
When it comes to experienced hires, it matters what type of experience you have. If you have experience in a field for which there is high client demand, you are very likely to get a call back. If you have work experience but not easily leveraged for client work then that will be tricky regardless of hiring situation.
Happy to answer any specific questions you have,

Hello!!
Experienced hiring at McKinsey is very active and it’s not like campus recruiting where everything is tied to one big season. In the US, for example, first-round interviews for experienced hires happen pretty much every other week.
It depends a lot on the role and practice, but operations-related hiring in particular has been very strong. In my last couple of months at the firm, I interviewed dozens of experienced-hire profiles.
That said, timelines can vary depending on the practice and office workload, so if you haven’t heard back yet, it doesn’t necessarily mean things are paused. Good luck!!!

Not sure about McKinsey specifically, but for experienced hires, hiring slowdowns do happen depending on pipeline and client demand. The best move is to go back to the partner who referred you — they can confirm the status directly or connect you to the recruiter. That will give you a clear answer instead of relying on second-hand updates.
