Hey, great question!The classic “consultants travel Monday to Thursday every week” setup is no longer the standard for us. Travel at Inverto is much more needs-based today.At the beginning of a project, we typically travel a bit more to get to know the client’s stakeholders and build relationships. Once that foundation is there, travel is usually rather required for specific meetings or workshops. So many teams end up traveling Monday to Wednesday or Tuesday to Thursday.Whenever we’re not on the client site, we can freely choose whether we prefer to work from home or from the office – depending on what works best for us and the team.

Aus meiner Sicht sind vor allem folgende Punkte wichtig: 1. Analytisches und strukturiertes DenkenDu solltest Probleme klar herunterbrechen, logisch argumentieren und sauber rechnen können. Das ist die Basis für unsere Cases und den Projektalltag. 2. Praktische LösungsorientierungInverto ist sehr „hands-on“. Wir entwickeln nicht nur Strategien, sondern setzen sie um. Deshalb suchen wir Leute, die pragmatisch denken, schnell ins Tun kommen und gerne mit echten Daten, Prozessen und Lieferanten arbeiten. 3. Kommunikations- und TeamfähigkeitUnsere Projekte funktionieren nur über Austausch – sowohl im Team als auch mit Kund:innen. Wir achten darauf, wie offen, klar und kooperativ jemand kommuniziert. Hi, danke für deine Frage! Ein wirtschaftlicher Hintergrund ist hilfreich, aber definitiv keine Voraussetzung, um bei Inverto erfolgreich zu starten. Natürlich arbeiten wir an Themen wie Einkauf, Supply Chain und Kostenstrukturen - da hilft ein gewisses betriebswirtschaftliches Grundverständnis. Aber das kann man sich mit einer schnellen Auffassungsgabe on the job oder durch Vorbereitung aneignen. Tatsächlich haben bei uns viele Kolleg:innen einen ingenieurwissenschaftlichen, naturwissenschaftlichen oder technischen Hintergrund. Gerade in Bereichen wie Supply Chain, Produktion, technischen Warengruppen oder Data Analytics sind diese Profile sogar ein echter Vorteil, weil sie analytisch denken, strukturiert arbeiten und oft ein sehr gutes Verständnis für Prozesse und technische Zusammenhänge mitbringen. Wichtiger als dein exakter Studiengang sind deshalb: Analytisches Denken Strukturierte Problemlösung Lernbereitschaft und Neugier Teamfähigkeit und Kommunikationsstärke Interesse an Einkauf & Supply Chain Wenn du diese Punkte mitbringst, hast du unabhängig vom Studienhintergrund gute Chancen. Trotzdem folgen viele Projekte einem ähnlichen Ablauf:1. Opportunity-Analyse: Zu Beginn verbringen wir meist ein paar Wochen damit, uns beim Kunden einen strukturierten Überblick zu verschaffen. Wir analysieren Potenziale, definieren strategische Themenfelder genauer und sprechen intensiv mit den operativen Stakeholdern, um ihr Umfeld und ihre Pain Points zu verstehen. Das ist eine sehr spannende Phase, weil man schnell tief in die Organisation eintaucht.2. Implementierung: Anschließend geht es in die Umsetzung – diese Phase ist meist länger und sehr hands-on. Hier begleiten oder leiten wir zum Beispiel Verhandlungen, Ausschreibungen oder andere Einkaufshebel, immer eng abgestimmt mit dem Kunden. Je nach Projekt sind wir stärker coachend unterwegs oder direkt operativ involviert.Im Durchschnitt laufen unsere Projekte etwa 6 bis 9 Monate, manchmal kürzer, manchmal länger – je nach Umfang und Zielsetzung.

You should practice structuring, doing quick calculations, and applying common sense to real-world business situations.  3. Show your teamwork mindset.A big part of Inverto’s culture is how we work together - open, collaborative, and supportive. In general, all processes at Inverto cover several dimensions: besides the case interviews, we also look (for example) at your motivation, past experiences, and personal fit. For an (Associate) Consultant position, the process typically includes two case interviews, complemented by personal fit discussions and a short management presentation. The cases are closely aligned with real Inverto project work - very tangible, practical, and based on real-life examples rather than abstract strategy scenarios.

Hi, vielen Dank für deine Frage. Ein Wechsel von Inverto zu BCG ist grundsätzlich möglich. Inverto ist Teil der BCG-Familie und arbeitet in vielen Projekten eng mit den BCG-Teams zusammen, insbesondere an der Schnittstelle zwischen Strategie und Umsetzung. Dadurch entstehen regelmäßig gemeinsame Projekte, bei denen Inverto-Consultants direkt mit BCG-Kolleg:innen zusammenarbeiten und sich gegenseitig kennenlernen. Dadurch entsteht ein starkes Netzwerk zu BCG.  Nichtsdestotrotz gibt es keinen automatisierten Regelprozess, über den ein Wechsel von Inverto zu BCG (oder andersherum) stattfindet. D.h. es gibt keine Standardroute, ein Wechsel ist eine individuelle Entscheidung, die in Absprache mit beiden Seiten im Einzelfall geprüft wird.

Außerdem verbindet Inverto das Beste aus zwei Welten: Einerseits den Zugang zum gesamten BCG-Netzwerk – mit all seinen Vorteilen wie Expert:innen aus allen Industrien und Themenfeldern, hervorragenden internen Ressourcen und vielfältigen Weiterbildungsmöglichkeiten. Andererseits aber auch die eigene Kultur und das besondere Teamgefühl eines Unternehmens, das über viele Jahre Gründer-geführt war und über alle Standorte hinweg eng zusammengewachsen ist. Diese Mischung schafft eine einmalige, sehr persönliche Teamkultur. Inhaltlich hat mich insbesondere der Fokus auf Einkauf und Supply Chain Management überzeugt – ein Bereich, den ich schon während meines Studiums (sowohl im Bachelor als auch im Master) vertieft habe und in dem ich auch während Praktika und Werkstudententätigkeiten mit großer Begeisterung gearbeitet habe. Besonders gefallen hat mir beim Start das außergewöhnlich strukturierte Onboarding bei Inverto. Nach einer klassischen Einführungswoche, in der man die Unternehmensfunktionen kennenlernt und Basistrainings zu den wichtigsten Tools (z. B. Excel und PowerPoint) absolviert, folgt eine zweite Woche mit einem intensiven Case-Training. Dabei lernen alle Neueinsteiger:innen die Projektarbeit bei Inverto im Detail kennen – von Vorgehensweisen über Tools und Ansprechpartner:innen bis hin zu Best Practices aus echten Projekten. Ich fand es beeindruckend, wie viel in die persönliche Entwicklung von Beginn an investiert wird. Das gibt ein sicheres Gefühl für den Projektstart und die perfekte Mischung aus „Training off and on the job“. Gleichzeitig lernt man in dieser Zeit viele Kolleg:innen kennen – gerade unter den Neustarter:innen entsteht so ein starkes Netzwerk, das mich bis heute durch meine Zeit bei Inverto begleitet.

Hi, thanks for the question - it’s a really relevant one at the moment! In my view, AI will not replace strategy consultants, but it will definitely change the way we work - in some areas quite fundamentally. A lot of what consultants do today involves collecting, structuring, and analyzing data, and AI tools can take over many of these repetitive or time-consuming tasks. That’s a good thing, because it allows us to focus more on what really creates value: problem-solving, creativity, stakeholder management, and strategic judgment. What AI cannot (yet) do — and probably won’t anytime soon — is understand context, drive change with clients, and navigate the human side of business. Every project has politics, emotions, and nuances that no algorithm can fully grasp. Especially in consulting, success often depends on trust, communication, and the ability to bring people along on a journey — things that are inherently human. At Inverto and BCG, AI is already seen as a powerful co-pilot rather than a threat. We’re using it to speed up analyses, draft deliverables, and test hypotheses faster. But the real insight and recommendation still come from consultants who combine data-driven thinking with experience and empathy. So in short: AI will make consulting smarter and more efficient, but it won’t replace consultants - it will make the best ones even more effective.

Hi, vielen Dank für deine Frage!Natürlich ist unser Job fordernd – wir arbeiten an spannenden Projekten mit engen Zeitplänen, und gerade in intensiveren Phasen kann es auch mal später werden. Aber das ist keineswegs der Dauerzustand. Um das sicherzustellen, legen wir bei Inverto großen Wert auf Teamwork und Transparenz. In unseren Projektteams besprechen wir wöchentlich die aktuelle Arbeitsbelastung – neben Themen wie Zufriedenheit, Lernkurve oder persönlicher Entwicklung – und diskutieren offen über alle Ränge hinweg, wie wir die Workload reduzieren können, wenn es mal stressiger wird. Bei Bedarf unterstützen uns dabei auch professionelle Inverto-Coaches. Standard auf den meisten Projekten ist außerdem, dass alle Teammitglieder an einem festen Wochentag sowie freitags planbar früh in den Feierabend gehen. Ich persönlich nutze gerade diese Tage, um bewusst Freizeit für Sport, Freunde und Familie einzuplanen. Wie in jedem Projektgeschäft gibt es natürlich intensivere und ruhigere Phasen. In letzteren hilft es sehr, dass wir bei Inverto eigenverantwortlich arbeiten können – sprich: Wenn keine Aufgaben mehr anstehen, darf der Laptop auch mal früher zugeklappt werden. Niemand bleibt bei Teams „grün“, nur um „grün“ zu sein. Zusammengefasst: Beratung ist sicher kein klassischer 9-to-5-Job. Ja, definitiv! Ich würde mich immer wieder für den Weg in die Beratung entscheiden – vermutlich sogar etwas früher in meiner Karriere. Bevor ich in die Beratung gewechselt bin, habe ich als Einkäuferin bei einem Fashion-Retailer gearbeitet. Mit der Zeit fehlten mir jedoch die Herausforderung und die steile Lernkurve, weshalb ich mich für den – eher untypischen – Schritt entschieden habe, in die Beratung zu wechseln. Könnte ich meinen Karriereweg noch einmal wählen, würde ich vermutlich schon während des Studiums Praktika in der Beratung absolvieren und direkt nach dem Master einsteigen. Es gibt jedoch verschiedene Möglichkeiten – sei es während des Studiums, nach dem Bachelor oder nach dem Master.

Wir bei Inverto sind auf Einkauf und Supply Chain Management spezialisiert – das sollte dich also grundsätzlich interessieren und dir Spaß machen.  Innerhalb dieser Spezialisierung hast du aber die Möglichkeit, viele verschiedene Branchen kennenzulernen, darunter Consumer Goods (z. B. die Fashion-Branche), Industrial Goods (z. B. Automobilindustrie) oder Healthcare. Zudem bietet jedes Projekt einen neuen inhaltlichen Fokus und spannende Herausforderungen, sodass du immer wieder neue Themen und Ansätze kennenlernen kannst. So bleibt die Arbeit abwechslungsreich und du kannst dich kontinuierlich weiterentwickeln.

Besonders wenn die Beratung einen spezifischen Fokus hat – wie bei uns Einkauf und Supply Chain Management – hilft es, sich vorab mit möglichen Inhalten vertraut zu machen. So kannst du strukturierter und entspannter durch den Bewerbungsprozess gehen. Ein weiterer Vorteil: Du bekommst ein gutes Gefühl dafür, ob dir das Lösen von Cases Spaß macht – denn das ist ein zentraler Bestandteil des Berateralltags. Viel Erfolg bei deiner Vorbereitung!

We offer a unique combination of strategic focus and hands-on implementation. Our specialization lies in Procurement and Supply Chain Management. As an independent subsidiary of BCG, we combine the resources of a global consultancy with the agility of a focused firm. You’ll go through a structured onboarding process that includes both class and on-the-job training. You’ll also engage in expectation-setting with your Staffing Manager and join project work early on - taking on responsibility within the first few weeks.

Typically, our consultants are on-site with clients from Monday to Thursday, with Fridays spent at the office. However, travel requirements vary depending on the client and project phase. Remote work is also a well-established practice at Inverto.

We support further education with a Master’s program for team members with a Bachelor’s degree, and MBS or PhD programs for more experienced professionals. Personal development is supported through our buddy system, dedicated career advisors, and structured performance assessments.

We offer comprehensive training both on and off the job. You’ll enter directly into client projects with guidance from experienced consultants, allowing you to take on responsibility early. Our internal trainings cover specialized topics such as negotiation and procurement processes, while external modules focus on soft skills and tailored individual development.
