I was wondering if the compensation (base + bonus) for a generalist associate and a solution associate (i.e. expert track not solution delivery track) is identical (or is it higher for generalists)? In case the comp is identical/similar, does it stay identical/similar beyond associate level (i.e. manager to partner)?
Also, I heard that, recently, consultants on the expert track are being promoted as quickly as generalists on average. Is that actually true?

This will vary somewhat by office - I don't think it is identical, though there has been a push to harmonize it.

I would say that this is true at the lower levels, but promotion is faster for generalists than experts at the AP/partner stage.
Your phrasing is a little confusing. Expert track and solutions are different paths. Expert track is similar to consultant and yes compensation structure has changed a lot there. I wouldn't say it's exactly at par in every office but it's getting there.
The bigger hurdle with expert track comes as you get senior. There's fewer expert track partner positions around.

There is a push towards equal compensation and harmonization in general. At the end of the day, it is still highly dependent on the specific office you are applying to.
As for the promotion question: definitely at the lower ranks, a bit tougher at the more senior end of the hierarchy.
