What exactly do implementation consultants at McKinsey do? Could someone please explain the skills one will gain?

It seems similar to program management - is this how I look at it?

What exits can one get out of this practice - would it be project management and program management type jobs?

McKinsey Implementation differs very much from regular consultants and also requires a  different skillset.

Driving organizational change is the process most MI concentrated on, that’s why the exit opportunities can be different.

Moving into PE or hardcore strategy might seem hard, whereas you will be better positioned for a corporate management or transformational role.

15 years in Strategy & Transformation. Was Practice Lead in Accenture Strategy leading team of 45 consultants.

Hi Anonymous,

Interesting question because I have done lot of implementation work as well apart from strategy. Probably have to write a long one to answer you. But I love to talk about it. Can brief you on what entails in an implementation program over a call. Its free and am sure you will find it interesting to listen to.

Thanks

Hi Anonymous,

McKinsey implementation does pretty much what they say on their website - ensuring implementation :-)
