Uber - How would you increase # of drivers?

Friend of mine got this case question in his first MBB round and I was wondering what's the best approach

Tks!

Hi there,

You'll really get the best out of this exercise if you try it yourself. Why don't you post what you're thinking and we can help?

Hint: Do you think this makes more sense top-down or bottom up?

General Tips

Remember that there's rarely a "best" answer with market sizing. What's important is that you break down the problem the way it makes sense to you. Importantly, break it down so that the assumptions you make are the ones you're most comfortable in.

For example, do you know all the major brands? Great go with that. Do you understand all the segments of that country's population (either age or wealth or job breakdown)? Go with that. Do you know the total market size of a similar industry? Then break it down that way.

tks - it is not a ms question, rather a discussion on how uber can do to increase the number of drivers - which could include rewarding top performers, setting up auto finance products, etc.

Hello!

On a funny note, recently I had a interview with Uber Strategy and the case (written one) they made me was not very different form this :)

For this one in particular, I would try to break it down into the drivers that may attract drivers, and deep dive on them. For isntance:

  • Flexibility
  • Salary per hour
  • Advantages vs. other platforms where they can do hourly freelance jobs
  • etc

Hope it helps!

Cheers,

Clara

Hi, in addition to the solutions proposed by the other coaches in the discussion, I would like to suggest similar cases in the platform to practice with:
