Oliver Wyman recruitment experience

Hello,

I had my second interview with oliver wyman exactly 3 weeks ago for an intern position. I have not heard back since. I am pretty sure i am rejected at this point but i haven’t received the official email yet. Is it recommended for me to reach out or is there no point since im rejected anyway.

Thank You

Hi,

I would definitely reach out; there’s no downside at all

Also, I wouldn’t jump to conclusions yet. I’ve seen quite a few cases over the last few weeks where firms  are taking longer than expected to get back, especially for internships: no news doesn’t automatically mean rejection.

So I’d send a quick note to HR or your interviewer reiterating your interest and asking if there are any updates. Worst case, you get closure; best case, you’re still in the process.

Regards,
Franco

Three weeks is long, and candidly it’s not usually the strongest signal, but I wouldn’t automatically assume rejection until you hear it.

At Oliver Wyman, as in many firms, delays can happen for reasons that have little to do with your performance:

  • scheduling / headcount discussions
  • internship class planning
  • internal approvals
  • simply process inefficiency (which happens more than people think)

Also, sometimes rejections come fast, sometimes they sit in limbo for a while.

At this point, yes — I would reach out.

A short, polite follow-up to recruiting is completely reasonable after 3 weeks. Something simple asking whether there are any updates on the process.

I wouldn’t approach it with the mindset:
“I’m rejected anyway so there’s no point.”

There is a point:

  • you may get clarity
  • you may show professionalism
  • and you may discover it’s just delayed

So yes, I’d follow up.

And separate point: try not to interpret silence too much. Recruiting processes are often messy. It may or may not be bad news, but right now you don’t know. Better to check.

3 weeks for an internship position seems like a long time - potentially a reject esp. if there are other peers from your cohort who have started received some news. As highlighted by others, no harm in following up.

Good luck!

hello!

Three weeks of silence after the second round at Oliver Wyman is quite common, especially for internship roles. It does not automatically mean rejection, OW is known for slow internal processing. Since it has been a while, it’s completely reasonable to send a short, polite follow‑up to HR or your recruiter. It won’t hurt your chances, and it shows professionalism.
