Does Globaldata London sponsor visas?

So I applied for Consultant position (tech and strategy): and was contacted by their Talent Acquisition Lead for an initial HR viability call. The conversation was not an interview but a preliminary screen focused on logistics rather than experience, with the first and main topic being my visa status due to your Graduate visa and the need for potential sponsorship in the future (after January 2027). The recruiter asked about my notice period and explained that he would need to speak internally with the hiring team to check whether sponsorship after the first year would be possible, explicitly stating—twice—that he would come back to me after those discussions. No assessment of my experience took place because the process is currently paused at a policy decision stage, not an evaluation stage. Its been a day should i be following up?

One day is too soon to follow up. Give it at least a week.

What you described is normal. Many UK companies need internal approval before sponsoring visas. The recruiter is doing the right thing by checking first instead of wasting your time.

The fact that they called you and said they'd get back to you is a decent sign. It means you weren't an automatic no. But sponsorship decisions often take time because they involve HR, legal, and budget discussions.

Here's my advice:

Wait 5-7 business days. If you haven't heard back, send a short polite follow-up. Something like: "Hi [Name], just wanted to check in on the sponsorship discussion. Happy to provide any additional information if helpful. Looking forward to hearing from you."

Keep it brief. Don't over-explain or sound anxious.

In the meantime, keep applying elsewhere. Don't pause your search waiting for one company to figure out their policy. If they come back with a yes, great. If not, you haven't lost time.

On whether GlobalData sponsors in general, it varies by role and team. Some companies sponsor selectively for hard-to-fill positions. Tech and strategy roles sometimes qualify. But there's no guarantee. Their answer will depend on budget, hiring needs, and how much they want you specifically.

If they say no this time, it doesn't mean never. It might just mean not right now.

hey there :)

One day is definitely too early to follow up, especially since this is an internal policy check and not an interview decision. I would wait at least a week before sending a short polite follow up if you have not heard back, as this timing is very normal for visa related discussions. If you want, I am happy to help you draft a clean follow up message when the time comes.

best,
Alessa :)

No. Wait.

A day is not long enough.

Give them some time. If a week passes and you don't hear back, that's when I'd ask. But I wouldn't chase them before that because it might come across as being too pushy / needy.

Best,
Cristian

Hi there,

One day is definitely way too early to reach out again. Please be patient and understand that HR is managing multiple priorities and will get back to you when they have news. If after 1-2 weeks you still don't hear anything, then you may politely follow up again.
