A specialist track gives you deep sector or capability expertise and often more predictable staffing and hours, but the range of projects is narrower and the move to a generalist partner path can be less flexible. Pay and promotion are usually competitive, yet your exit options later tend to be more industry-/capability-specific.
• Lastly, I would advise you to ask the recruiter very concrete questions before you decide: how staffing works, how promotion is judged, whether you can switch to the generalist track later, and how the compensation compares to the generalist associate role. Get the key points in writing so you can compare cleanly.

The real challenge is the long-term career path. The TIC track offers great depth, but if your ultimate goal is broad corporate strategy or a fast track to general partner, transitioning back to the core generalist consulting track can be incredibly difficult once you are pigeonholed.
