From what I know, recruiting across the Middle East offices is currently almost completely frozen, aside from a few very specific ad hoc hires for niche needs.

This is due to the current geopolitical environment and its impact on the consulting market. In fact, the situation is somewhat the opposite: most firms currently have more consultants available than they have projects to staff.

Of course, things can change quickly, but my expectation is that it will remain quite difficult to join a consulting firm in the Middle East over the next couple of months. Once project demand picks up again, I would expect the regular recruiting cycles to become more visible.

• First of all, contrary to what other coaches have said, apart from perhaps a brief period during the COVID-19 pandemic, there has really never been a complete hiring freeze, in any region or country.
• Moreover, BCG has not changed anything about the hiring process itself, but they hire more cautiously at the moment due the the geopolitical situation in the region.
• Lastly, on how often roles are published, unfortunately, no one can tell you for certain. The Middle East offices are typically hiring on a rolling basis, so I woul strongly advise you to set up an alarm or at least regularly check the BCG job board.

BCG Riyadh and Dubai have shifted their recruiting style, so what you’re seeing is normal. They hire fewer classic Associates through public postings and rely much more on cycles, referrals, and internal headcount planning. Visiting Associate roles appear more often simply because they’re easier to open and close quickly, while full‑time Associate or Senior Associate cycles are planned months in advance and often never show up publicly.

For Advanced Degree candidates, the February cycle you heard about was real. These offices don’t always announce cycles on the website, and many candidates only hear about them through referrals or direct recruiter communication. When a cycle closes, it usually stays closed until the office has clarity on staffing needs again. In Riyadh and Dubai, that can mean anywhere from three to six months before the next wave opens.

The pattern is simple: if the office needs people, they open a cycle; if not, they go quiet. It doesn’t reflect anything about your profile. The best move is to stay in touch with recruiting, keep your referral network warm, and watch for the next cycle later in the year.

You're doing the right thing about being in touch with the recruiter. Clarify whether there are any application cycles opening soon. And do a similar thing with the recruiters from the other firms.

BCG Middle East fills most full-time entry roles through their internship and target campus pipelines. They rarely need to post them publicly.

For advanced degree candidates, you missed the early spring pipeline cycle. Do not panic. The main full-time application window typically runs from June through September.
