Case questions

Hello,

I’m through to the final round of interviews with McKinsey and was wondering if there are any final round cases available to help me practise.

Thank you.

Hi there,

Firstly, HUGE CONGRATS on making it through to the last round! That is such an accomplishment. You are so close now!

For cases: Any Strategy Consulting Cases that are candidate-led would be good practice.

If you have not practiced on the official McKinsey cases yet, I would recommend them. You can find them here:
https://www.mckinsey.com/careers/interviewing

Also, on Preplounge, there are 2 BAIN cases that are quite good, I'd check those out too. Just go to resources, then Case Library, and then filter for Bain.

Hope this helps!

Congrats on getting to the final round!

There aren't really 'final' round cases. As in, in the firm's library of cases, there are just cases. The interviewers then adjust them slightly based on their seniority and what they are looking for.

You can find however some cases I wrote that are based on real McK interviews which should give you a sense of what to expect:

Hi there,

Congratulations on making it to the final round with McKinsey — that’s a fantastic achievement.

Yes, I’d be happy to support your preparation. I have a few case studies that closely resemble the style and structure of McKinsey final-round interviews, including those with a strong focus on personal experience and interviewer-led problem solving.

Feel free to reach out :)

Best,

Congratulations on making it to the final round. You are now very close to securing the final offer. Your preparation for the final round should be based on the feedback that is shared by the first round interviewer. I would advise you to focus on this advise and ensure that you improve on the areas they want you to improve on as this is what the final interviewer will check for.

You would need to find a coach who has experience with McKinsey style interviews and would be able to give practical tips for the development areas you were told about.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi there,

Congrats on making it to the final round!

Interviews at McKinsey does not progressively become more difficult as you advance through the interview stages. Practicing any intermediate to difficult interviewer-led cases should do.

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on the progress in the application process with McKinsey thus far!

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • First of all, McKinsey final round case studies are not fundamentally different from first round ones - they’re still interviewer-led, but partners occasionally challenge your thinking more.
  • Moreover, there is obviously no publicly available library of McKinsey case studies, and I would advise you to just keep practicing the way you did in your first interview round, in which you succeeded.
  • Lastly, I would strongly advise you to consider practicing real-life McKinsey case studies with an experienced coach like me who can challenge you beyond the usual case study. Avoid relying only on casebooks or highly scripted case simulations.

You can find more on this topic here: How to succeed in the final interview round.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming final-round McKinsey interviews, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen
