Hello,
Any tips on how to ace the McK Solver?
Also, I have not done any cases in months, do you suggest to keep it until the very end and practice my cases in the meantime just in case to be ready if I go into the interviewing process? I have 2 weeks to do the assessment
Tips for McK Solver assessment

Hi Ahmad,
1) Any tips on how to ace the McK Solver?
You can find an article on the game below with a few tips:
▶ McKinsey Problem Solving Game Article
If you want to prepare further, you can find below a video simulation with:
- 15 videos showing how to crack the Ecosystem Game in 23 minutes (instead of the recommended 35) and resist 25+ turns in the Plant Defense (instead of the minimum target of 15)
- Automated Excel with Formulas to build a food chain in the Ecosystem game in 16 minutes
- PDF guide with all the 5 games and how to crack each of them
You can check the video simulation at the following link - full disclosure, I am the author ;)
▶ McKinsey PSG Solve Combo Guide
2) Do you suggest to keep it until the very end and practice my cases in the meantime just in case to be ready if I go into the interviewing process? I have 2 weeks to do the assessment
If you follow the guide, you should be ready in around 6 hours (2 for the videos, 2 for the pdf and 2 for general review - eg practicing with the automated Excel).
You will get most of the learnings with the videos in any case. I would start with the videos now to get familiar and concentrate on cases as well.
In case you have any other questions on the game please feel free to PM me, happy to help.
Best,
Francesco

Hi Ahmad,
I would give yourself about a week to practice for the McK assessment (in parallel with casing). Overall, the assessment will take less time to prepare for than casing itself, but how exactly you allocate your time depends on a range of factors! (readiness, resources/materials, coaching, strengths, time available, study habits, et.c)

Hello,
I agree with Ian that it's advisable to practice both casing + McK solver in parallel if you have the time, because casing takes a lot more time to prep for than the online assessment. I'd advise to start your prep now (or as soon as possible), as you are 2 weeks out.
